Charlie was walking to his classes and soon he had sat down at his seat and waited for instructions for the next few minutes but he had a few thoughts on his mind
Sarah walked in, glancing around before silently choosing a seat next to Charlie. She glanced at him and then pulled her computer out and set it on her desk. She sighed and rubbed her temples. She had to catch up on a lot this year, and she was not looking forward to it. She didn't think anyone would if they were in her shoes.
She opened up her computer and logged into a game that had been blocked by the school because kids kept playing it in class. She then began playing, revealing to be pretty good at it. As she played a strand of hair fell into her face and she absently blew it out of her line of vision.
“Kind of. More like, decided not to show up.” She said with a small shrug, not taking her eyes off the game. She was almost to the final boss level, which was pretty hard to get too. She smiled a small smile as she pressed a few keys to fight one of the enemies on the screen.
She nodded. “Yeah. I've heard this school doesn't perform great all around.” She said, with a small shrug as she defeated the level and moved on to the next one. This one was the final boss level. There was a secret level after if you used a proper code at the end.
He had looked at her “good luck on that, you'll need it” he said before sighing “but the school is pretty bad, one time the school suspended more than half of the school.”
“I heard about that. This school was where my parents decided to send me since I wasn't doing any work at my old one. The kids there were brats anyways.” She said with a small eye roll as she started the level and immediately began fighting the army of enemies blocking the king.
“Yeah, a few times. I guess the timing never worked out or I always started worrying about what I would do for shelter or something.” She said as she finally got to the king and began a swordfight with him.
She nodded. “Yeah. My parents would have an aneurism if I disappeared. I'm supposed to be their perfect child that carries on the family business.” She said with a small shrug. She finally defeated him and then a riddle popped up on screen. She answered with a different riddle and then another level popped up.
She nodded and started playing the new level which was basically a teaser for the new game, and gave you a perk for the next game once you completed it.
“It would be boring. But nice. Your parents would hug you when you got home instead of yelling. You wouldn't think of running away. Just of when you could see your friend next. You would have a life of longing for something more instead of realizing you already have what you need.” She said as she defeated the level and got the perk.
“Ah, then in your normal life you would have a family. No working, a family to help with it all.” She said as she glanced over at him for the first time in the conversation. She smiled shook her head. “I hope everyone that needs it gets that someday.”
She nodded. “Yeah.” She thought for a moment as she saved the game and shut her computer. Apparently this was a free period because the teacher was sick and not coming, and they couldn't hire a sub on time.
“A lot of things. Being tortured, losing someone dear to you right in front of your eyes, being starved. Just a few. People who have no food or education would kill for what we have. But I guess that's just what being selfish is.” She said with a shrug.
She nods. “This world is crazy. And nobody knows what to do. So they go along with it. That's the problem with society. If someone stopped and finally questioned the logic of some of the things that happen around here, there might finally be a change in the system." She said with a small sigh.
“Yes. It does seem that way. But the question always stands. How long will it last before they are fighting?” She asked as she raised an eyebrow at him.
“Yes. That is always a possibility.” She said as she leaned back and closed her eyes. “But the hardest part is finding someone who is the perfect person for you.” She saidm with a small shrug.
She opened her eyes and looked at him, her head tilted. She then smiled and looked away. “Yeah? And what if it ends badly?” She asked as she tugged at a strand of hair.
