Mikaela laid Vampire in her lap and inspected the razor-sharp edge as the lieutenant in front of her stood nervously, waiting for her reaction.

“So,” she began slowly, running her finger down the length of the blade, “you mean to tell me that someone has entered my forest?” 
The lieutenant nodded timidly. “Yes, your Majesty. A…” he glanced back at his subordinate, standing a feet feet behind and to the side of him, then returned his gaze to Mikaela. “A wolf, your Majesty,” he said.

She nodded, still not looking up from Vampire.

“I want a search party of five-and-twenty men in that forest, and I want you to find that wolf and drive him off,” she said, finally looking up. “Do not leave those trees until he is gone. Am I understood, lieutenant?”

He nodded nervously, and she waved a hand at him. “Good. You may go,” she said, leaning back in her throne.

Mikaela stood, stretching, and pulled on her boots. She strode out of the castle and into the courtyard, then she strode over the drawbridge, her small Royal Guard unit clearing the way ahead of and around her.

Mikaela strode out to the forest, then she paused at the edge of the tree line, closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, allowing the energy of the forest to flow through her body and show her the life of the forest. She began walking in a seemingly random direction, keeping her eyes closed, avoiding obstacles.

Mikaela moved deeper and deeper into the forest, searching for the wolf.

Mikaela chanced upon the tracks left by the wolf, and followed them with Vampire in hand.
