Within the oceans of the combined multiverse dwell the merfolk. These unique humanoids have the upper bodies of your typical humanoids and the tail of an aquatic creature in place of their lower body. These tails vary in color and pattern depending on the merfolk in question. Merfolk themselves are biologically immortal, show some control over the oceans and have the ability to enter human form once they exit the water. When a merfolk is in human form, they are fully clothed These beings have lived in harmony until they were discovered by human scientists who were curious about the species. As a result, several dozen merfolk were taken from their homes and were brought to live in a research facility. They were all placed in separate rooms that were assigned to them. These rooms had doors on land which could be locked and unlocked remotely. Each room had a large tank in it which was specially designed for each individual subject. These tanks were made easy to climb in and out of so that both the scientists and the subject could enter and exit the water whenever they needed to do so. There has even been other aquatic creatures discovered in the oceans that have been captured alongside several merfolk including sirens, mythical beings said to lure sailors to their doom and other beings of the sort.
