~The past 1692-1693~
Surely the Devil had come to Salem in 1692. Young girls screaming and barking like a dog? Strange dances in the woods? This was behavior hardly becoming of virtuous teenage maidens. The town doctor was called onto the scene. After a thorough examination, he concluded quite simply — the girls were bewitched. Now the task was clear. Whomever was responsible for this outrage must be brought to justice.
The ordeal originated in the home of Salem's Reverend Samual Parris. Parris had a slave from the Caribbean named Tituba. Several of the town's teenage girls began to gather in the kitchen with Tituba early in 1692. As winter turned to spring the townspeople were aghast at the behaviors exhibited by Tituba's young followers. They were believed to have danced a black magic dance in the nearby woods. Several of the girls would fall to the floor and scream hysterically. Soon this behavior began to spread across Salem. Ministers from nearby communities came to Salem to lend their sage advice. The talk turned to identifying the parties responsible for this mess.
"There's no place like Salem. There's no place like Salem..."
Puritans believed that to become bewitched a witch must draw an individual under a spell. The girls could not have possibly brought this condition onto themselves. Soon they were questioned and forced to name their tormentors. Three townspeople, including Tituba, were named as witches. The famous Salem witchcraft trials began as the girls began to name more and more community members.
Evidence admitted in such trials was of five types.
First- the accused might be asked to pass a test, like reciting the Lord's Prayer. This seems simple enough. But the young girls who attended the trial were known to scream and writhe on the floor in the middle of the test. It is easy to understand why some could not pass.
Second- physical evidence was considered. Any birthmarks, warts, moles, or other blemishes were seen as possible portals through which Satan could enter a body.
Third- was a witness testimony of consideration. Anyone who could attribute their misfortune to the sorcery of an accused person might help get a conviction.
Fourth- was spectral evidence. Puritans believed that Satan could not take the form of any unwilling person. Therefore, if anyone saw a ghost or spirit in the form of the accused, the person in question must be a witch.
Fifth- was the confession. Confession seems foolhardy to a defendant who is certain of his or her innocence. In many cases, it was the only way out. A confessor would tearfully throw himself or herself on the mercy of the town and court and promise repentance. None of the confessors were executed. Part of repentance might of course include helping to convict others.
As 1692 passed into 1693, the hysteria began to lose steam. The governor of the colony, upon hearing that his own wife was accused of witchcraft ordered an end to the trials. However, 20 people and 2 dogs were executed for the crime of witchcraft in Salem. One person was pressed to death under a pile of stones for refusing to testify.
~The present three hundred and thirty years - 2022~
Everything's changed. The Salem Witch Trial's have been on everyone's minds lately. For a small coven of women, their whole lives are about to change. They all had powers of their own, and they didn't know what it was like to live in the modern world, with powers. Each female is descended from one of the witches that had been burned, those three hundred and twenty-eight years ago. They didn't know it at first, but as they started digging into their family history, is when they found out, that they were really special women. Women that had a new calling in life, a calling that's either going to get them killed, or going to let them fully flourish into the witches they are meant to become.
Meanwhile while in Salem already, the Hunters Clan, have gotten wind of the small Coven. No one knows how they got wind of it, and they weren't about to say anything about it either. They were given the task of finding the women, and each of them following them. It didn't matter how long it would take. They were supposed to find out which of the many witches that had been burned, they are walking in the footsteps of. They aren't scared of getting their hands dirty, but there's also something there in the back of their minds. Something that's telling them to gain the women's trust, and to make them feel safe instead of hunted. They honestly didn't know what it was, or where the signs were coming from, but they had no choice but to follow them.
Things were slowly falling into place for the small Coven. They felt like they could make a home for themselves. They felt like they were finally home, and that's when the Hunters Clan starts moving in. Each male pairs off with a female. They feel some kind of connection with each of them, and it's like something sparks between them all. Something dark is still lurking in the back's of their minds though. What'll happen when the small Coven realizes what the men are really up too? Will they manage to learn to trust them like they already were? Will they manage to beat the darkness that's quickly moving in among them? Or will everything come crashing down? Will the Hunters Clan finally get their bounty? Will the burning of the witches come back to Salem? You will never know unless you join, Fractured Images.
Telekinesis; is the ability to move objects as well as individuals with the mind. It can be channeled through the eyes or hands, the latter being the most common way to use the power. This is one of the most common yet most versatile powers possessed by magical beings, be they good, evil or neutral.
Premonition; is the ability to see and experience events from the past, present, and future. This power is highly desirable, since it often helps a witch evade dangerous situations. It is one of the most helpful defensive powers that a witch can possess.
Psychic Reflection; is the ability to reflect emotions and/or memories back onto a person or another being. It is a highly evolved form of Empathy and was revealed to be extremely potent.
Lennox's whole life has been pretty much sheltered. She didn't know what it was like to really let people into her life. The only people she really knew were her parents, and her younger brother. Her and her brother had a really strong connection while they had been growing up. As the years passed, Grady became more and more distant with her. She didn't fully understand it at the time, but when she did, he had finally managed to kill himself. He was a demon, and that had been the first time she found out that she was a witch herself. She didn't know how to approach her parents about it, but the moment she did, she was twenty years old, and her parents didn't want her growing into her powers. Lennox on the other hand, had other ideas. She had contacted her grandmother in a different state, and they started e-mailing one another, and the two women had made a bond with each other, that it was time Lennox broke away from her parents. She had no choice in the matter. She wanted to know if there were other's out there like her. Her grandmother told her about her cousin's, and that she had a half sibling as well. Someone she hadn't known, but had come across once or twice in her life. She didn't know it at the time, but her half sibling was trying their hardest to help her realize what she was. Family was starting to come out of the woodwork, and she wanted nothing more than to know each and every one of them. Her parents on the other hand, had other plans. They didn't want Lennox knowing about her other family, so they up and moved, and cut all ties with everyone. They started to monitor what Lennox did, and it drove her insane. That's when she had a premonition about three other women, women she had grown close too, and were like her second family. It was her small coven, and they were all breaking away from their families, and for good.
When Lennox was younger, she always knew she was different. She knew she was special, but she didn't realize how special she was. Her parents had found a warlock, and asked him to bind their child's powers. They didn't want her growing up with them. They wanted her to have a normal life. There was a price to be paid. They had a son, and he was also different. He was a demon, and the warlock had told them, that when it was time Lennox would come into her powers, he would have to kill himself. That tore them both apart, but deep down they wanted their daughter safe. They wanted her to be normal, and this was the only way. They agreed to it, so they had made Lennox drink a potion and her powers were binded, until she turned twenty. As the years passed, she grew into the beautiful woman she was today. She was gentle, amazing, wonderful, and close to her brother. The night he had killed himself, was also the night her whole life had changed. She got her powers back, and she didn't even really know about it. The day of her brothers funeral had been the worst day of her life. She didn't want to go anywhere, she didn't know why he had killed himself. That was when she started having premonition's. She saw what her parents had done, and it made her angry. As the years passed she got a hold of family members she didn't know about it. She was slowly learning how to control her powers, and that's when she found the three women in her life. They were just like her. Witches, were out in plain sight. As they were getting stronger, they moved to Salem, and were starting their new lives. It was time she took control of her own life, and her parents didn't have a say anymore. Now that she's out from under her parents wings, she can do whatever she pleased, and she finally felt like she was at home. She could explore everything she was meant to explore all of this time.
Shape Shifting; The ability to change the shape and structure of their bodies into anything else they want. They can change themselves into another person, an animal, or even an inanimate object, though they can't stay in an inanimate form for very long.
Memory Reader; A form of telepathy that only allows them to see the past of another. They can clearly see any event or series of events that the person experienced.
Mediumship/Necromancy; The ability to see and communicate with the dead.
Ellie Aurora Nicholas, or as she prefers to be called Rorie is the youngest of six children and is also a twin. The others were MUCH older than she and Estella and so she pretty much only hung around with her twin sister. But as fate would have it, Stella became very sick when they were thirteen and died from the illness two years later. This devasted their parents, older brothers and sisters but most of all it devasted Ellie. After the loss of her twin, her parents and siblings tried to spend more time with her and to show her that she DID matter to them, but already the girl was too far gone and lost. And as the years went by, the girl only grew quieter and more distant from her family. Sometimes though, her family would hear her talking to Stella and think she had lost it. They didn't know she was able to see and communicate with the dead. There were A LOT of things her family didn't/doesn't know about her. And if she is honest, Ellie is fine with that and REALLY doesn't want to let them in because for so long they had never paid her much attention (or not until the day that Estella died). She always felt like she was never good enough and when Stella died those feelings only became more intensified. When she was twenty, her parents could not take it anymore and figured that they already lost their youngest daughter and so kicked her out. It was like she didn't belong anywhere for awhile. Not even Kyle, Grace, Allen, or Angela really wanted anything to do with her. Besides they were all married and starting families of their own. And so in a sense, Rorie really was keft behind and forgotten. And she had to find her own family and way in the world which she does.
Ever since she could remember, Ellie had never been normal. Everything that was "darker" and a little "strange" seemed to draw her in. She loved anything to do with the supernatural and had always felt a strong pull to Halloween and the tales of witches and magic that were told. The girl also had always been able to see the dead and to talk to them as if they were living. The only ones who had believed her or not thought her to be scary or a freak were her grandmother and her twin sister. Both seemed to have similar "gifts" to her own but her grandmother died when she was eight and her twin when they were fifteen. So in that sense, Ellie became alone for the most part and did not trust others. The ONE person she had opened up to had betrayed her and had gotten others to harrass her for being so strange and different. Everyone began to call her freak and witch. Her own family couldn't really protect her and so when she was old enough, the young woman applied for college and up and left. She tried to find her own way but still felt lost. Everywhere she went it seemed she could not and would not fit in. And in that time, her ability of being able to see and communicate with the dead only became stronger. By chance one night she had stumbled upon a group of young women who happened to be about her age and she watched them. It appeared that like her they too were different. So afterwards, the young woman stayed and spoke with who she assumed to be the leader of the coven and explained some of who she was and what she had been able to do. And since that time, the coven became like her family. Others over the years came and they went but the young woman herself stayed faithful to her "sisters" and even found herself agreeing to move to Salem with them.
Pyrokinesis- the ability to create, control and manipulate fire.
Illusion Casting- the ability to make others see and hear things that aren't really there.
Charm/Mesmerize- the ability to manipulate a person's thoughts, feelings or actions through direct eye contact. Can only be used to influence one person looking into her eyes.
It had never been any secret that Seraphina was adopted. After all she looked nothing like either of her parents. Her parents had adopted her when she was ten years old, prior to being adopted she had bounced around foster families. Until the McKay's every family that took her in would always send her away eventually, usually with the reason that there was something off-putting about her. Perhaps some of it because there was no record of what exactly happened to her biological family, all she had was the last name of Flynn to give her insight into her family, and also probably because whenever she locked eyes with someone they would feel strange. Nonetheless she cherished the time she spent with the McKay's, she never changed her last name to theirs but they didn't seem to mind. Once she was an adult she started researching into her family which was when she started to run across weird connections to Salem. It was then that she started to discover who she was, and found that she still had living relatives. She was able to meet up with her paternal aunt who told her all about their family secret and how it seemed that she had inherited powers from her ancestors. Her parents, Ophelia Young and Evander Flynn, had been young when she was born. Apparently she was unplanned but not necessarily unwanted- according to her aunt her father had adored her. However the concept of raising a witch had been too much for her mother who disappeared one night with Seraphina in tow. Apparently her father had tried to locate her and her mother but had been unable to before he met an untimely demise. The biggest question that still remains is what happened to her mother but at least she isn't alone anymore.
Seraphina always had felt different then the other children she grew up with. Not to mention the fact that her peers always kept her at a distance. As she got older she started to discover that she could do things that the average person could not. Even though she loved her adoptive parents she still hid away the unique powers she gained from them. Not wanting to alienate the only family she thought she had in the world. Finding her aunt was a life changing moment, one that made her glad that she had at least always had the knowledge of her last name. It was when some things started to make sense and she started to feel at least a little less peculiar. Though she still had one mystery still in her life- there was still no answer on what had happened to Ophelia Young after she left the Flynn's behind. Seraphina still was clueless on whether she ended up in the orphanage because something had happened to her or if her mother had abandoned her there. Meeting her aunt was just the start of it soon she met three other women who were like her. They became family to her, sisters that she never had before. She would do anything she could for her close knit coven. Together they grew in power and strength, they even moved to Salem to be closer to their ancestors.
Bishop's whole family were hunters. It didn't matter what kind of hunters they were. When he was younger, he was taught at a young age that killing things was a good thing. Didn't matter if they were good people or not. The supernatural were dangerous. When he was fifteen was the first time he had killed a supernatural. The demon he had killed was a girl in his class. He didn't know it at the time, but he had been falling head over heels for the woman. His older brother Issac had told him, that the woman was a killer. She was hiding behind a mask, and that she had to be killed. So he was given the task of getting to know her, and that was a huge mistake on his end. The woman had wormed her way into his heart, and she had begged him over and over again not to kill her. That was was trying to please her family, and the male knew she was lying. The look in her eyes was deadly. They had been by themselves, away from other people. She had begged him to go into the woods, and not even let other's know. That was another bad idea on his part. The only weapon he had on him, was his knife. When she attacked him, was when he knew he had to kill her. He had to kill his first love. He knew demon's couldn't feel any type of emotion, and so when he drove the knife into her eye, he knew he would grow up being a cold blooded killer. It was how he was raised. Watching as the life drained out of her good eye, the male got the first taste, and he liked it. So since that night, he promised himself he wouldn't get close to another being again. Unless they were fully human. Even though she had been his first love, he knew he wouldn't ever forget her, and the lesson she had taught him all those years ago.
Bishop had grown up in a house filled with boys. He was always teased about how emotional he was. The only brother that even cared, or even wanted to see him become a man was Issac. Issac had taken Bishop under his wing, and taught him everything he knew. His parents weren't ever around, and if they were, his mother was always doing treatments for her cancer, and his father was doing everything in his power to make sure his boys knew what they were doing, and that they were being raised right. One night while Bishop was training with Issac was when Felix came running out into the woods behind their home, and said that their mother was on her death bed, and they had to hurry up and get home. That's when Bishop's whole life turned around. His mother was the only other person who had faith in him. The night he had killed his first demon, she had been the one he went to first. Then Issac. When the two boys got into the house, they could smell the air of death. They walked into their mother's room, saw her laying on the bed, and Bishop's heart dropped into his feet. Seeing his mother like that, tore his heart apart. He stayed with her all though the night. The rest of the family had more important things to do. Their father wasn't anywhere to be found. So late in the night, his mother had reached out, took his hand and told him an old family secret. That was when she took her last breath, and passed away. It tore Bishop apart. His whole life was changing, and she wouldn't be around any longer to watch him grow. That's the one thing he wanted the most. He knew he had his brother's and father, but it wasn't enough. He made a vow to make his mother happy, and that's what he was about to do.
Bishop is the kind of person who doesn't like to take no for an answer. He always put's other's before himself, and he sure as hell doesn't care what other's think of him. He will put you in your place, and he will make it known that you've pissed him off. When he cares about someone, it takes a lot for you to shatter his trust. When you shatter his trust is when you better run like hell, and hide in a place where he can't find you. The blood running though his veins is hunter's blood. He doesn't give a rat's ass if you claim to be a good person or not. If he doesn't trust you, or if he's been ordered to hunt you, he will do it. He wants to believe there is still good in this world, but with the way his life has been going, he doesn't trust in anyone anymore. He wants to trust someone, and finally settle down, but with his past he can't really do that. His first kill had been the kill of a life time. He loved watching the life drain out of her eyes, and seeing the way she died seemed to please him. When he lost his mother though, was the one thing that changed him. It changed him to the point where he didn't want to trust in a female again. He didn't want to let anyone else close enough to know the real him. His mother was like his life line, he trusted her with everything. The moment he lost her, he felt like he lost apart of himself. That's when the small coven moves into his home town. There's something there. Something that's scaring the living shit out of him. Something dangerous, but wonderful at the same time. He doesn't really know how to react. Maybe this new mission of his, will help him realize that he can finally fall in love, and not have to worry about getting hurt again. Only time will tell with this one.
Zayden became a hunter at a very young age and not because he had a choice in the matter. His mother and two younger sisters had been killed by witches and the curses that had been put on them had been some pretty nasty ones. It was once his mother and sisters were gone did his father completely lose it and then make the boy of ten become a hunter. He would train him in combat, weapons, recognizing spells and supernatural doings. It was almost like the show Supernatural had come to life. His father became obsessed with the ones who killed his mother and sisters and due to his father's obsession, so did Z. And as he grew older, the male became one of the best. Still got into a shot ton of trouble and people thought him crazy but he didn't give up. He and his father had been a team for as long as he could remember. And so when his dad died, Zayden was pretty much on his own. He SHOULD have given up the witches and his hunt but since he had been doing it for so long and he even found out it had quite literally been in his blood he couldn't. A witch hunter/supernatural hunter he had been raised as since he was ten and one he would be until he died. Or that was how he saw it.
Zayden Francis Jacobs was the first born of three children to Anthony and Rebecca Jacobs. He was their pride and joy and any chance they could, his mother and father would spend time with him whether that was doing something simple inside or outside playing. But that did change somewhat when he was five and his mother gave birth to twin girls, Susanna and Samantha. His new sisters took up a lot of their parents time but the girls were very close to him. And in a year or two they became his best friends and he could see why their parents were so attached. The three children became close and close could be. They did EVERYTHING together. It was one night though when his father had been out of town on a business trip did things go badly.

Her father was standing behind his wife, his hand on her shoulder. Something was happening, and she didn't know what it was.
