Mel Amora walked to her locker; needing to grab a piece of paper and a pencil/pen/marker/crayon... just whatever writing utensil she grabbed first. She ended up grabbing a pen. On the paper, she wrote: Meet me at the park after school. She then slid it in (you/oc's) locker; heading off to her next class in a rush.
Mark was writing his letter about his feelings for Mel. He had some trouble and felt nervous about it but he kept writing. Eventually he finished but held onto it. He went to his locker and saw the letter. He opened it and saw that it was by Mel and that she wanted to meet at the park. He smiled slightly and closed the letter. Keeping it in his locker. After he got his stuff and shut the locker door and went to class.
Mel had already been in class and she had her head down on the desk. Wondering if he would actually meet her at the park after school. She thought to herself: 'This is stupid of me to do... what if he doesn't show up?...' She had completely forgotten that him and her had the same class at that time...
Mark entered the class and saw Mel. He sat down in a seat near her but didn't sit in the seat that was right next to her. A bit nervous and deep in thought currently. [I 'What did she need or want?'] He thought over and over.
Mel had sat up and looked over at Mark and then quickly looked away so she was now facing the window that viewed a flower shop. She was super nervous and started shaking a bit as she had accidentally dropped her book on the floor. With a [b [i THUD]], everyone had looked over at her as she picked up the book and hid her face again.
Mark looked at her, being one of the people who looked at her when she dropped the book. He looked at the table and rested his head on his right hand. He had to keep his mind on the school work. If he got sidetracked it would show to his grade and he didn't want to mess up again. He sighed and looked at the work they were given earlier.
Mel sat up in embarrassment as the teacher looked at her and called out; saying that she needed to start on the worksheet she had handed out to everyone at the beginning of class, and with that, she did. She had put all her other things away that were on her desk and only kept out a pencil, the worksheet, and an eraser just in case.
Mark was casually working on the worksheet. Doing his work on the paper even if he can do in his head because teachers love to see when people show work on their paper. He even check the answer by redoing the problem. But sometimes he kept getting distracted and it took awhile for him to answer even the easiest questions.
Mel had first started on the easier problems then made her way to the harder ones. She had been doing a lot of the work on the side and in the blank spaces so her paper was nearly full of things. She drew lines across everything just so when the teacher looked at it; she would be able to tell which math belonged to which problem.
Mark sighed as he finally finished all the problems. He rested his head as he was left to his thoughts. He wished school was just over now so that he didn't have to multitask and stress over the work. Yet most wishes don't always come true for most. Or could it? Now he was thinking about too many things and getting distracted. He groaned to himself.
Mel had finally finished all of the problems on the worksheet; having done all the work and even extra math work to see if she was actually correct. She thought she was and waited for everyone else to finish so the teacher could take it and grade it. She then grabbed out her book and started reading as she first pushed her paper to the left corner of her desk.
Since Mk was finished he pulled out his phone and went through some of the apps on there. To keep himself busy as for the teacher waiting for the other students to be done with their work. He went through social media apps, seeing what others were doing before he went onto YouTube to find a video to watch.
While Mel was reading a really good romance book, the teacher walked over to collect her paper. As the teacher did, she looked up because it was normal that when someone is by her she has to look instantly. She looked back down at her book and continued right as the teacher had walked away. She sat there ever so silently as the class started chatting with each other quietly.
Mark eventually grew bored of YouTube and thought about going out into the halls and take a small walk. He got up and put his phone in his pocket. He walked up to the teacher and asked for the hall pass which they gave him one and he left the class right after. Now walking aimlessly in the halls.
Mel looked up as she heard the classroom door close; curious about who it was but she didn't see so just didn't even mind and went back to reading. The more/longer she had been reading, the closer her book was to being finished. She decided that when she was nearly done and had about 15 more chapters, she stopped reading and put her book away; laying her head on her desk now.
He kept walking to the school's bells rang, hinting towards end of class, which thus he headed back to class to get his stuff and return the hall pass. As people passed him in the halls and carefully dodged them. Making sure he didn't bump into anybody on accident, he passed the majority of the group.
Mel quickly got her things together and headed out of the class; walking through the huge group of people, she felt a bit more squished than usual. She tried looking over people to find her locker but she couldn't see much with taller people around. She eventually found her locker and put her things away and grabbed what she needed next.
Mark eventually got to the classroom and returned the hall pass. He went to grab his stuff and left the room. Heading to his walker he kept his head down and moved slightly slowly but with some pace. When he got to his locker he put his books and other things in. He looked for the other stuff he needed and grabbed them.
As Mel walked off to her last class of the day, finally, she was the first to walk in, meaning she was early; she felt as if she was trying too hard with being early or on time and getting all As and Bs.. She cleared her thoughts and sat down. A few seconds later, everyone else started showing up and getting settled.
He walked to his last block a little bit before the late bell ranged. He sighed and sat down in his assigned seat before pulling out his notebooks and textbooks before scanning around the room. After he looked around the room he looked down at his notes and the textbook and compared the two while the teacher took attendance.
Mel was just waiting and waiting until school would end already; still remembering the letter she gave to Mark and what it had said about meeting her at the park after school. Because she had to go home a bit early today, the time had come and she got up and handed the pass to the teacher to leave school. She went to her locker, grabbed her things, and headed off home quick.
As the end of school bell ranged Mark rubbed his forehead before grabbing his stuff and headed to his locker. He put up his stuff and closed the locker. He didn't have homework to do for he finished it during class. He smiled to himself as he thought about the note that Mel gave to him about the meet up location. He didn't have to be home till 7pm for his mother only comes home at 7:30pm from work. So he began to walk to the park that she was talking about in the note.
Mel had walked out of her house and started walking to the park. A few minutes later she showed up and waited for Mark to arrive. She still wondered to herself; [I 'I'm too nervous to say anything! But like, what if he really doesn't show up?..'] she tried not to think negatively about what could possibly happen. Mel sat on a swing and swung slightly as she waited longer.
During his walk to the park he tried to clear his mind. Not wanting to stress himself out on what Mel was going to say to him. Which he hoped was nothing major for it could be a bad thing. Mark entered the park and looked around for her and didn't quite see her. He continued to walk around to try to find her.
Mel had been swinging while looking down. She stopped and then looked up to see if he was there yet; she had spotted him and called out as she waved. "MARK!!" she had a slight smile on her face, still a bit nervous and shy, she waited for him to then walk over; she stood up instead of staying on the swing.
Mark heard his name get called and looked up to where it originated. He saw Mel and walked over to her where she had been apparently swinging. Once he had arrived he smiled at her and greeted her. "Hey Mel. It's nice to see you here. How are you doing?" He asked her. He looked around at the scenery before turning his attention back at her.
Mel held her hands together and placed them down as she looked at Mark. "I am doing okay, you?" she tilted her head with a slight smile on her face. She could feel her heart beating quickly a bit. Trying to ignore it and not heat up so nothing would seem off when she was going to ask her question, right after a small conversation.
Mark looked at her, examining at her body language before responding back at her question with a simple answer. "I am doing quite fine. Thank you for asking." He smiled brightly. "A lovely day out isn't it? Been a while since I have visited the park lately. Very nice to come out here and see the nature with a friend."
Mel have given him a small smile and she looked around the park, seeing the scenery. She then looked at the sky and then back at Mark. "Yea, it is.." she let out a sigh and waited a minute or so to say something next. Mel was thinking if she should either wait or say it now. She decided now.. "Hey, um Mark, I have something to tell you..." her voice quieted.
Mark was staring at the nearby pond while she looked around at the scenery when he glanced at Mel to see her facing him and was about to say something he turned to face her with his smile a bit shrunken but still rather a slight smile. As she said she had something to say to him, he was a bit nervous what she was going to say. "Yes?" Wondering out of curiosity now what she was going to say next.
Before Mel had answered him, she took a deep breath, closed her eyes, cleared her thoughts, and then said it.. "I like you!.." she was so close to just wanting to run away at that moment; her heart beating quickly. Now so many thoughts had come back and it was crazy the number of things she was thinking of.. She felt like it was a mistake to say so.
It took Mark a minute to register what Mel had said to him and he was shocked to hear what came out of her mouth. He was glad though that she felt the same way as he felt and he smiled very brightly. "I like you too." His voice a bit shaky though for it was a blood rush for him. For he was very nervous in the first place.
Mel blushed slightly and looked at Mark. "Y-you do?" she was a bit surprised/shocked to hear that he had liked her back. What she was expecting was a, 'Sorry, I don't feel the same way and I would only like to stay friends' something like that, but otherwise, she felt a spark of joy in her heart, it made her happy.
Mark's cheeks was a deep crimson. "Y-yes... Of c-course." He didn't know to do or say next. He was still quite worried if he made the right choice and by right choice he meant the fact that he didn't know if she meant by as a friend or more. He assumed more though and hoped he didn't assume wrong. "M-more than friends though, right?"
Mel looked away blushing and waited a bit. She calmed herself down a bit and then looked back at Mark; now confused after the question he had just asked her. She thought she would have given the right impression but couldn't tell if he knew. "..yes.. I have a crush on you-.." she looked down; thinking that he doesn't like her in that way.
He covered his bottom half of his face with his right hand and looked at her. "I- I do too. . ." He looked down at his feet and felt very embarrassed. He chuckled slightly as he was completely flustered. He looked down at the ground and readjusted his footing/stance on the ground.
Mel blushed a bit more; happy and relieved to hear that Mark DID feel the same way about her as she did towards him. She looked down and then back up at him; worried that the conversation wouldn't go anywhere and that it would be an awkward silence. She spoke up. "S-so... what does this mean?" she was quiet but spoke loud enough that he could hear.
Mark looked at the grass his feet stood on. He thought about what Mel had asked him before looking up at her. "Well... I guess that since we both like each other... We could date each other-..." He felt very embarrassed about what he proposed to her and covered his face with his hands before returning them to his sides and looked down, back at the ground.
Mel smiled brightly as she slightly nodded her head. "Well," she paused; forgetting what she was about to say and then the thought had come back and she continued, "yes, we are dating now then." she smiled once more than right away went to hug Mark without a warning, whoops. She hugged him slightly tight; setting her chin on his shoulder.
Mark was caught by surprise and hugged back smiling brightly as they were hugging. "Alrighty then." He spoke softly. After they were done hugging he looked at the time which was already at 5:00pm. "Oh it's quite late already..." He said as his smile faded. "My mom would expect me to be home at 6:00..." He told Mel.
Mel looked at him and tilted her head the slightest bit, she spoke softly. "Well, alright, you have my number so just message me if you want!" she smiled as she took a small step backward. Mel was pretty happy and couldn't wait to tell her mother, she would tell her father if he ever stuck around and listened. >.>
Mark looked around before at her and smiled. "Alright. Will do. I'll text you later." He began to walk back as he waved her a g'bye and then started to his home. Making sure his phone was in his pocket, he put on some music to listen to while he heads home. When he got home, he entered his house and made sure it was nice and clean before his mother arrived.
Mel smiled back at him as he left; she waved goodbye and headed a different way that wasn't quite the quickest way home. She understood it was late and dark out but just in case she was ready. Mel then ran over to her friends very quickly before going home. She had to grab the clothes her mother wanted back at the house.
After Mark finished cleaning he went to cook dinner which when he finished his mother already got home. She was very exhausted and had a long day at work so this was the least he could do. He set up the food on the table for her and ate at the table with her. She talked about her day before letting Mark talk about his.
Mel had arrived at her friend's house and knocked. She got let in and explained to her friend's parents why she was over so late at night. Mel grabbed what she needed and hugged her friend goodbye, saying she'll see her tomorrow. After that, she went out and made her way all the way back home. She arrived a bit later and went inside.
After Mark told his mother the news and they talked about it, his mum went to bed as he went to his room to watch a bit of tv. He kept flipping through different channels bored out of his mind for none of the channels offered anything remotely interesting. He gave out a sigh before he just put on a random movie.
Mel went rushing to her mother who had been prepping dinner for tonight. Once she stood there excited, waiting for her mom to finish a bit, her mother got worried for a bit because she wasn’t informed that she was stopping anywhere. Mel was excited to share her news. She told her mom and she was happy for her so she went in for a hug.
The movie that Mark was watching was ironically enough, a romantic comedy movie. He was watching through it before he though about going downstairs and making sure everything is turned off and locked up and so he did. He locked the front and back door and turned off the lights before returning to his bedroom to continue the movie.
Mel had then sat down at the dinner table after her mother got the rest of the few things set up. Her dad works the night shift so he isn’t normally at dinner often. It was okay though. Her mother sat down and started eating and she did the same. A bit later they both finished eating and she helped her mother wash and put away dishes.
Mark yawned as he felt tired from his current day. He looked at the time that read 7:30pm and shrugged. He'll probably just finish his movie before going to sleep. The movie was half way down anyway so might as well. He thought about what happened earlier and smiled to himself about it before returning his attention back to the movie.
