Poison Mushroom wandered through the trees slowly, searching through it for any mushrooms he could find as he looked around curiously. "Mmmm...wonder if there are any shroomies around here..." They mumbled quietly, putting their hand on a tree and peeking out from behind it when he heard the sound of snuffling. An animal, he presumed, and they tilted their head curiously. Obviously they had to catch their hat from falling off their head, humming softly before replacing it on his head as he glanced around for the source of the snuffling noise he'd heard. "Mmm..."
Dino-Sour was out adventuring in territory new to him that day, having left the firey dunes of Dragon's Valley with his jellysaur companion, Jello. Given, the entire forested area was a new experience, typically used to the heated environment of his beloved valley or of the desert he frequently visited to bother his friends, so he allowed Jello to lead him around. After all, jellysaurs had a better sense of smell and of direction than a "feral" Cookie might, and he trusted his friend not to get them lost. Dino-Sour stopped to set up a little campfire after a while of aimless wandering, letting Jello do whatever he so wished, which happened to be poking around bushes and sniffing at plants new to him. With a sniff of the air, the jellysaur walked closer to the tree Poison Mushroom was behind, having caught their scent and deciding that the curiously new smell was worth investigating, walking right up to him to get a better sniff.
Poison Mushroom gasped a bit as they were nudged at by the jellysaur's snout, petting Jello gently as he smiled a bit. "Hello...do you want a shroomy?" He dug through his bag for a moment, offering the creature a mushroom. "It's...not poisonous as far as I can tell...so you can eat it..." Their voice was slow and soft, and even as nervous as he was, he thought that it would be a good idea to make friends with the creature instead of trying to grab it or attack it. It's not like he could do much damage compared to the Jellysaur anyway...
Jello sniffed at the mushroom offered to him before taking it into his mouth hesitantly before backing away a few steps to eat it much like a wary dog would, keeping his eyes trained on Poison Mushroom the entire time. The jellysaur seemed happy with the little snack it was given, soon after reapproaching him and nuzzling at them in appreciation, having no food on him to give in return much like he wanted to. Though, that sparked an idea, so Jello got a mouthful of their robes and gently tugged on them, clearly trying to take them somewhere, said somewhere being where Dino-Sour currently sat and attended to a fire, with, of course, ample food. If you gave a jellysaur some of your resources, it would try to give you some of theirs; it was the way of the prehistoric world.
"Oh...okay..." He mumbled, trotting along beside Jello and humming a little song to themselves. It did take a moment for them to notice Dino, but he looked down at Jelly to make sure he was okay with this person. "Uum...hi." He spoke after a moment, waving to Dino with a soft smile. "I'm Poison Mushroom..." They did seem relatively harmless, watching Dino curiously as they held onto the strap of the bag Licorice had given them for foraging. "I've never seen you here before..."
Dino blinked a few times, surprised at the appearance of another Cookie, and a younger one at that. Scooping the small jellysaur into his arms and yapping at him for a moment, as if trying to scold him but mildly failing to do so when they both seemed to writhe with laughter, the two turned their gaze to Poison Mushroom. "Hi! I'm Dino-Sour! This is Jello! We're from, uhm... What did Lilac say it was called to Cookies?" Dino momentarily asked, looking to Jello for an answer, who barked one out swiftly. "Dragon's Valley, right! We're from there!" The blue-haired Cookie spoke with a grin, Jello wriggling out of his arms to grab one of the sticks that had scorpion roasting over the flames and offering it to Poison Mushroom, still determined to share resources as they had done for him.
Poison Mushroom looked at the roasted scorpion as if he'd never seen it before, taking it and sniffing it curiously. "...What's...this?" He asked softly, seeming a bit confused about why he was handed a roasted bug. He looked to Dino for answers, coming and sitting next to him as he fidgeted with the stick. "I hope papa doesn't get upset that I'm taking so long..."
"It's a pokey bug! Don't worry though, the poison point has been chopped and it's good to eat." Dino answered with a grin, grabbing one of the others that were cooking and munching down on the soft shell with ease, of course grabbing one for Jello before he did so. "Papa? Do you live somewhere out here?" He asked curiously after a moment, a little surprised at his own apparent fluency but by no means was about to complain about it, instead taking a celebratory bite of his baked scorpion with a smile.
"Papa lets me go into the forest for shroomies...want one?" He asked quietly, pulling the second of the only two shrooms he'd managed to find in the forest as he looked up at him with a hesitant smile. Given, Licorice and Dark Enchantress would be upset with him, but he knew that and didn't find himself that scared of getting a gentle scolding from Licorice after they're away from Dark Enchantress.
Dino respectfully shook his head to decline the offer, waiting a moment to chew and swallow down the rest of his scorpion. "No thank you! Lavender doesn't eat those so I won't. You like them?" He softly hummed out, sharing a glance with Jello, the jellysaur next to him soon walking up to Poison Mushroom and sniffing at him. "Jello can help you find a few more! He can smell really good!" Dino offered with a smile. Though, that was something that was short-lasted when he perked up at the sound of footsteps other than the soft sound Jelly's track made, letting out a warning growl when whomever it was approached. "Little flower, are you out here?" Called out the soft, recognizable voice of Clover, earning another wary growl from Dino as he had no idea who the other was.
He quickly picked up, putting his bag down before running through the foliage and hugging Clover. "Hi!!!" He chirped excitedly, pulling the plant-themed bard over to the little camp. "I made some friends, see?" He pointed to Dino and Jello, seeming excited for once as he clapped a bit. "I fed the Jelly a shroomie and he brought me to a new friend!" He was still unsure of their names, but he was just deciding to trust them for the moment.
"Aww, that's just wonderful, hun!" Clover chirped, crouching down enough to press a quick kiss to his cheek before redirecting his gaze to Dino and his jellysaur companion. They both seemed less tense and growly, most likely due to the fact that Poison Mushroom seemed to know who Clover was. "Well, it's nice to meet you two, new friends. I'm Clover," The plant-based bard introduced himself, earning a friendly smile from Dino and a curious sniff from Jello when the jellysaur approached. "I'm Dino, and that's Jello!" Dino returned the greeting happily, Jello letting out a squeak before licking at Poison Mushroom's face.
Poison Mushroom let out a little squeal and a giggle from being licked as he squirmed gently, smiling at Jelly before offering him the other mushroom from his bag. "Here, you can have the other shroomy." He smiled at the little Jellysaur, patting his head while letting him eat it, then looking up at Clover. "Papa let me go off on my own to find shroomies...I should probably go and find him though..." He looked behind them nervously, gripping the strap of his bag. "I don't want 'Chantress to yell at me..."
Jello happily gobbled down the second mushroom he was given, wagging his tail happily and letting out a similarly happy yap afterwards to express his thanks as best he could as a jellysaur. "That's a good idea, little flower, she [i can] get pretty angry... Why don't we go find him before that happens then, in that case?" Clover offered after a moment with a thoughtful hum, pausing before continuing on. "You should say bye to your friends first, Poimu, don't you think? Maybe they'll come to visit again in the future."
The young Cookie looked up at his father before nodding and trotting over to Dino as they gave a soft smile. "I hope we can meet again soon! There's a place near here that dad lives in, maybe you could stay there!" He spoke happily, reaching up and full-hand-booping Dino's nose before moving and patting Jello's head with both hands. "You're a good friend, Jello. I'm gonna miss you." He whined a bit, but stood up and walked back over to his father as he held his hand up to him.
Clover smiled down at his son, gently holding the hand that was extended out to him before curtseying as a polite, non-verbal goodbye to the other adult Cookie and his prehistoric companion, the both of which staying curled up by their fire as the bard led them away. "Alright, let's think, where would your papa be at this time of day?" He asked aloud, humming softly in thought. It was a genuine question, oftentimes not having Licorice's nor Poison Mushroom's schedule nailed down due to how busy his own tended to be, though he did his best.
"Iiii think he's waiting for me at the entrance of his lab." He blepped softly, grinning up at him. "Papa taught me that word. It took me a while to get it, but I got it!" He chirped happily, trotting alongside him before sighing quietly. "Papa's gonna be upset with me because I gave all my shroomies to Jello..." He sounded kind of disappointed with himself, but eventually shook it off as he looked up at him. "Did you find any shroomies while trying to find me, dad?" He asked semi-hopefully, tilting his head gently and curiously.
"I always bring you shrooms anytime I come to visit, little flower. I don't see how this time would be any different," Clover stated in warm response, slipping off his stately hat to dig through its seemingly endless magical depths. He pulled out a cloth bag before slipping his hat back on, handing the bag off to his son soon after with a smile. "Milk told me of a good foraging area not too far from here. I'll have to show you it someday; it has shrooms of all kinds. Ah, I'll tell you more about it later but, for right now, let's hurry, we don't want to worry papa," The bard ushered as he led the two of them to Licorice's lab with the same smile, perfectly aware of how impatient and worried his lover could sometimes be if Poison Mushroom was away for too long.
Poison Mushroom ran up to his other father as soon as he saw him, holding his hands up to be picked up as Licorice let out a soft but visible sigh of relief. "There you are...where have you been? I've been worried about you!" He gently scolded the child, placing their foreheads together for a moment before noticing Clover. "Oh." He seemed a bit stunned to see Clover in a place like this, much less with Poison Mushroom tagging along. It didn't take him long to shake it off, though, coming and putting his arm around Clover as he nuzzled him. "It's nice to see you, love."
"It's nice to see you too, sweetheart," The bard hummed out easily, returning the nuzzle he was given by giving one of his own. "Sorry I haven't been able to swing by more often; work gets busy, I'm sure you understand." He mumbled in an apologetic tone, easily switching it over to something more lively and exciting. "Oh! You're never going to guess who finally got a free day to themselves though!" Clover chirped out, kissing both of their cheeks, practically beaming with joy at the mere thought of being able to spend the day with them, let alone the reality that he could now, considering he managed to convince Mint to watch over Custard, Pancake, and Moon for the day.
Licorice smiled softly as he held his boyfriend and child close, rubbing Poison Mushroom's head as they let out a soft giggle. "Dad's gonna spend the day with us, papa?" He asked, as if he had to make sure he was reading the room properly. Which Licorice was happy to confirm, nodding to his son as he put him on his back in a little pouch he'd ended up making just for carrying the little one around in.
