Red Velvet blepped happily as he laid on the ground, his tail patting it as he thought about the musician that had decided to adopt him and help him integrate into regular society. He wiggled happily as he thought about it, looking at the door with a soft whine as he scooted closer to it. He just wanted Mint Choco to get home soon, that much was for sure. The doglike male had been good and not chewed on anything in the house he wasn't supposed to, and he was proud of that, so he wanted to share it with Mint Choco. He wanted to show people that he wasn't just a dumb dog Cookie that's only good for attacking and fighting. He was good for defending peacefully and being around when needed! He was gonna prove it to people.
Mint Choco softly hummed out one of the last few songs he had played that day, having, once again, put on a performance as per request of their highness. Despite having gotten lost for a moment backstage; the stage crew thought it would be a [i lovely] idea to rearrange what he was used to, quite the headache that was; he was overall content with the show he put on. Cocoa Cookie was there, as always, to support him if he needed it, and she always managed to put a smile on his face. He was grateful to know such a kind person, humming a little louder as he headed home for the night; a path he knew he would never get lost upon, having metaphorically drilled it into his mind. "Velvet, Cocoa asked me to tell you that she says hello-" Mint Choco called out as he gently opened his front door, pausing a moment while eyeing the doglike Cookie staying so close to it.
He sat up immediately, his tail starting to wag excitedly as he sat there in wait for Mint Choco to give him permission to come and hug him. "You're home!" He smiled as he moved closer, tackle hugging the musician Cookie as he let out a happy yip. "I missed you! I was hoping you'd be home soon, and I was right!" He yipped excitedly, allowing his tail to keep wagging as he moved back and hopped up onto the couch with a happy hum. "I didn't chew on anything I wasn't supposed to today!" Admittedly he was a bit hyperfocused on that fact, but he was proud of himself and he wanted Mint Choco to be proud of him too. His tail wagged as he waited for him to join him, blepping softly.
"You didn't?" Mint Choco inquired with slight surprise laced in his voice, doing a quick look around of his; or, now, their?; house. He smiled happily at the sight of that fact being confirmed from what he could see, sighing out in a similarly pleased manner. "That's great! You did well, thank you for behaving yourself while I was gone. I appreciate it," Mint Choco affectionately praised, keeping a smile glued to his face as he slipped off his topcoat and hug it up before setting his violin and bow down, the violinist moving over to take a seat on the couch next to the other afterwards.
Velvet's tail immediately started wagging when he was praised, letting out another yip of happiness as he moved closer and nosed his way into Mint Choco's shoulder. "I've been good today! Can I hear a song later?" He asked softly, giving the musician a begging look as his tail shifted and placed itself on the couch softly. It seemed like he was happy at the moment, kinda shifting on the couch as he thought about it for a moment. It took him a few moments, but he perked up and went into the kitchen as he reached up to grab the jar of beans that he had set up there without realizing that Mint Choco would have trouble reaching it. He brought it back and offered it to the musician with a soft smile, his tail wagging a bit. Sharing wasn't always something he liked doing, but he was doing it this time since he loved him and wanted to make him smile at him more.
"Of course you can, you know I don't mind." Mint Choco stated with a hum of affirmation and a small nod to answer. He blinked softly a few times when he was offered the jar, delicately taking and holding it, a tiny bit confused as to why he was handed a jar of beans out of all things but accepting it nonetheless. Velvet wasn't much of one to share or give out things to others even when asked, Mint Choco knew that well so there wasn't a chance in the world he'd refuse. "Awh, you've been awfully sweet today, Velvet. Thank you,"
He smiled a bit before nuzzling his cheek with a happy hum, letting his tail continue to wag. "I did some shopping with Herb Cookie." He announced proudly, wagging his tail softly. "I could've paid, but he said that you've done favours for him. Have you?" He seemed curious, holding his hands in a kinda 'nya' sort of position as he watched his housemate's expressions curiously. His ear flicked softly as he blepped once again, happily going around and around in a circle with himself since he was pretty much ready to either eat or sleep again. He'd been sleeping a lot while Mint Choco was away...
"I have indeed," The violinist answered softly, looking down at the jar in his hands and letting his thumbs run over the smooth surface of the glass. "He steps out from his shop sometimes, and, because Clover is always so busy with babysitting most often, he asks me to look after it. Herb finds either of us musicians so we can play his plants some music, it's helped their growth a lot from what he's told me; Cookiesnap especially." Mint Choco added on in a light ramble, though keeping it simple and short for one of his evening explanations, having the tendency to simply keep talking after his performances of the day.
Velvet didn't mind listening if it meant his favourite Cookie in all of Earthbread was happy, smiling lightheartedly even if his brain couldn't entirely compute what the musician said. He just let his tail continue to be a whirlwind as he smiled at him, even coming close enough to pull Mint Choco close to him and leaning back so that they'd both be comfortable. In other words, the doglike Cookie was trying his best to do what he could.
Mint Choco sighed out comfortably, letting his mouth fall shut and draw into a warm smile instead of continuing to carelessly talk away. Cocoa Cookie already had heard more than an earful from him earlier, after all; he'd have to thank her for that later, making a small mental note to do that the next chance he got. Even for a well-refined and talented musician, it was difficult to completely [i not] talk every once and a while, that much was fair. "So, you spent the day shopping with Herb? How'd that go? Did you have fun?" He asked softly while looking to the doglike Cookie for an answer, or even a recap of his day, managing to snuggle his way a little closer to him.
"Yep! The shops kept giving me little scraps of food they had left over, it was fun!" He yipped out excitedly, letting out soft giggles to himself as he let his tail wag harder. He loved going out and interacting with people if it meant it would make Mint Choco happy, and he didn't know, but it seemed to have. He scooted closer and bonked his head on his musician's happily, yipping softly and snuggling up with him after a moment. "I love youuuu-"
Mint Choco softly smiled, pressing a light kiss to Red Velvet's forehead with, admittedly, the tiniest bit of struggle, needing to shift a little in order to do so. Curse him for being so tall even while sitting down, jokingly and lightheartedly of course. "I love you too, puppy. I'm glad to hear you had a good day while I was away," He hummed out truthfully with a clearly blissful smile, staying still for a moment before deciding to press another soft, quick kiss to the doglike Cookie's forehead, smiling evermore afterwards.
Another happy yip escaped him before he gently began to attack Mint Choco's face with kisses and nuzzles, almost seeming to giggle to himself as he nuzzled into him with a gentle hum. "You're really sweet...I'm lucky you decided I was good enough to try and rehabilitate. I think that's the word..." He mumbled more to himself, tilting his head.
"That [i is] the correct word!" The musician chirped out happily with a matching giggle, his smile breaking out into a gleeful grin. He gave him a few affectionate nuzzles before continuing on, "First you didn't chew anything up and now you're using more complicated terms and sentences? I swear on Earthbread I'm so proud. Good for you for learning and being so smart," Mint Choco praised softly, his voice oozing with purely genuine sugary-sweet affections much like the gentle nuzzles he gave him were. While he was a little strict in terms of discipline, by no means did he not give credit and praise when rightfully deserved, not hesitating a single moment to dish out plenty for the doglike Cookie next to him.
He was practically vibrating at this point, gasping at the nuzzles and praise he got from his musician. "I did good!!" He chirped excitedly, squirming a little and holding him closer as he giggled and squealed softly. "I love you!" He squirmed as he held him, nuzzling at his shoulder with a happy yip. It was clear how happy he was, his tail being a whirlwind blur.
