Lilac Cookie hummed an inaudible tune to himself, slyly sneaking through the halls of the palace he was assigned to as to avoid being seen. It wasn't as if he was unable to leave or go wherever he so please, but he had his preferences about not being caught by others even in casual situations. Thankfully that day, Yogurt didn't need much from him in terms of protection as he was cooped up in the master room with plentiful guards looking after him, so Lilac figured it was a good time to leave the exquisite halls of the palace by himself for the first time in a while. He couldn't even remember the last time he was allowed to take some time to himself and investigate the kingdom without being dragged around like a secretive mutt. So, that's exactly what Lilac did, making his way to the Cookie Kingdom's main city. Surprisingly enough, it was easy for him to slide about unnoticed, calmly and casually observing the warm environment and interactions between the other Cookies from a small distance away. His lavender eyes got curiously caught on Captain Ice down by the docks chatting away with a Cookie Lilac wasn't too familiar with; then again, he wasn't familiar with anyone outside the palace. Whomever they were, they interested him, most likely due to their shark-like features; hadn't he heard Yogurt speak of a shark Cookie before? Maybe that was them, Lilac assumed, continuing to watch from the shadows.
Sorbet Shark Cookie happily clapped their hands as they bounced, happily letting out little "ooOoOOo"s before trotting down the dock and seeming to sing a little song to themself in "oo"s as they smiled to themself. They seemed very happy-go-lucky, trotting right past Lilac's hiding spot and not even noticing him as they smiled. They had to go into the big city by themselves for once, since Captain Ice had things to do, so they happily obeyed their captain. They went up to a few stores and bought things with the money Captain Ice had given them for that express purpose. They'd spent pretty much all of it on supplies and materials they'd need, even using the money that the Captain had told them was for them to spend on something small they'd like.
For curiosities sake, and figuring he had nothing better to be doing, Lilac silently followed the shark-like Cookie around as to observe their actions. Part of him was still doing his job, trying to figure out if Sorbet Shark would be deemed any sort of threat, whereas the other half of him was genuinely looking out for their safety. They seemed... Childlike and carefree in his opinion, which wasn't the easiest thing to find in the Cookie Kingdom; not where he came from at least. After a little while, Lilac let out a silent sigh and slipped by Sparkling's bar for a quick glass of water to keep himself hydrated. Sneaking around unnoticed was no easy feat, after all, he was bound to grow thirsty eventually, quietly drinking his glass of water by the window, curiosity still keeping his eyes keenly watching the sharky Cookie skitter about.
Sparkling came to water the flowers that Herb had so graciously gifted him that were near Lilac, humming to himself. "Looks like those pirates are back in town, hmm? They usually come by my bar after their little stockup expedition." He hummed easily, looking at Lilac before shrugging. "Maybe you should stick around and meet the little Schnitzel you seem to have your eye on." Sparkling set another glass down by Lilac after a moment, walking back to behind his bar in order to get back to work. Sorbet Shark reported back to their captain quickly after that, trotting behind the rest of the crew when they decided to come to the bar like they usually did.
Lilac was content to trust Sparkling's word considering he didn't have a reason to distrust the barkeep, staying seated where he was by the window while drinking his water. Now waiting for the semi-familiar Sorbet Shark to enter his field of sight, he had time to think about how exactly to meet the Cookie. Considering he wasn't the best with words, simply walking up to them was a no-go; he wasn't charismatic for Hollyberry's sake, he was mysterious, which were two very different things. He didn't have much on him which would probably warrant enough interest for the other Cookie to wander up to him either, all he had were his sheathed circled blades and the plentiful jewels he had on him... Lilac blinked a few times. Sparkling had said that the little cookie he had his eye on was a [i pirate]? Maybe the jewels would work just fine then in that case, hoping that the shark Cookie had an eye for amethyst gems as he played with them carelessly to subtly draw attention to them.
Sorbet walked inside happily, being handed a cup of their favorite tea from the kind barkeep before their eyes fell on the amethyst gemstones. They trotted over quickly, being careful not to spill their tea as he set it on the table before wiggling into Lilac's lap in order to examine the gemstones with a fascinated "oooooo" coming from them. Their eyes sparkled gently as they examined them, tilting their head before looking up at Lilac with a curious look. "OooOoo?" They tried, not sure if Lilac could understand what they were trying to say. It was a bit hard to understand them when they weren't in the water, afterall.
Lilac raised a brow, silently intrigued at the comfortability Sorbet seemed to have around him already upon having wriggled their way into his lap, raising it further at the certainly unique way he was spoken to. Not that he minded much, though, having heard it the entirety of the time he followed behind the shark Cookie. Picking up one of the cleaner cut and smoother polished gems, Lilac held it out in front of Sorbet, quietly inviting them to take it if they so wished. "Would you... Like one?" He asked gently, curiously, as if trying to figure out if that was what they were asking of him, smiling a little behind his face veil.
That seemed to be something they wanted, taking the gemstone from him and happily wiggling in his lap as they let out a little celebratory squeak. "Oooo ooOo!" They warbled out gently, hoping that their thanks would be evident enough even if Lilac couldn't seem to understand them. They set the gemstone on the table before pulling their tea over to them, happily warbling out a little song to themselves while gently biting on the cup they were given. Luckily it was made to be bitten, so they didn't hurt their teeth or the cup they were biting. It made them happy, this place, and this new person seemed nice!
Lilac smiled a little more, happy to have made them happy by merely guessing what they wanted, slightly leaning over to grab his own glass, gently tug his face veil away, and sip at his drink once more. He left the thin transparent fabric off, oddly and rarely enough, quietly eyeing Sorbet for a few moments before gently patting their head. "I'm Lilac, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm glad you like the amethyst," He offered out with a gentle hum, giving their head one more pat before pulling his hand away, only trying to be respectful as he couldn't entirely understand what they said quite just yet. "What's your name?" Lilac asked after a few hesitant moments, having a feeling he wouldn't get an easily understandable answer, though it wasn't like he could ask any of the other pirates that were crewmates of the shark cookie. Captain Ice knew him too well and probably would have his head considering that the pirate Captain and Yogurt weren't on the best of terms; plus, there was the whole deal with Lilac being a trained assassin and bodyguard, and he would rather keep things peaceful, if possible. After all, Captain Ice hadn't noticed him thus far, much to his thanks.
"Oooo! OoooOooOooo!!" They happily trilled out, trying their best to help him understand before thinking and hopping off of Lilac's lap, trotting over to Sparkling and patting at his leg. After a few moments of hushed conversation, Sorbet Shark came back with a pen and a pad of paper. He wrote on it for a moment before pushing it over to Lilac, their handwriting being a bit of a chicken scratch but somehow also elegant. It made them smile to see others read it.
"Sorbet Shark, hm?" Lilac repeated what was on the paper after reading what was written on it, quietly taking that information into account. He gently pushed the pad of paper back to them soon afterwards to allow them to continue writing, humming out a singular silent note as he did so. "That's a nice flavour, the grand witch must have loved making you..." The bodyguard noted aloud, soon smiling brightly again, "You remind me a lot of Pancake Cookie; you two would be good friends if you were to meet. Yogurt would adore you too, I'm sure." Lilac added on with a fond laugh, patting Sorbet's head a few times once more as a friendly gesture.
They seemed quite happy to be patted, giggling and trilling softly as they began to quickly scribble things down onto the paper. They pushed the pad back over to Lilac, smiling happily as they blepped in excitement. Whatever they'd written, it seemed like they knew Lilac Cookie might like it. They gnawed on the pen a bit, soft enough to not make it explode but hard enough to satisfy their need to bite.
"Ah, you shouldn't bite your pen, little friend," Lilac started as a gentle redirection, not wishing for the pen to explode on accident as well ink did [i not] taste the best, let alone was consumable as most inks could poison someone. Thinking quickly for a safer alternative, he sifted through his belongings for a moment before setting a little cloth bag on the table, opening it up before gesturing to its contents. He had bartered back in the lands where he was from for the bag filled with gumballs, apparently glad he could put them to decent 'use' now. "You can chew on those instead, but don't swallow them. Gumballs might taste good, but they aren't exactly edible, you can take my word for that." He said while grabbing one of them himself, softly chewing away at it with the same soft smile.
They looked in the bag curiously, Sparkling coming over to take away the now-empty cups and to check on Sorbet. "Hey there, Kleiner, how are things on the ship?" He spoke kindly to the little one, Sorbet's eyes lighting up as they began to warble and trill about their adventures to their father. They eventually held their arms up, Sparkling picking them up and handing them a gumball with a soft smile. "It sounds like a wonderful adventure, Schatz, it really does." He hummed gently, rubbing their foreheads together in a little nuzzle. "Have you visited Herb yet?" He asked kindly, glancing at Lilac with a softly stern look that gave across a clear warning; "Hurt my child and I'll hurt you ten times worse."
Lilac put on an understanding smile semi-immediately, grabbing the transparent lavender cloth he had set down and draping it across the lower half of his face respectively. The only times it came off was when he was comfortable, and by no means was he [i comfortable] being given a silent warning from a protective parent; oh, no no, if anything it only put him on edge. The sound of lighthearted laughter distracted him from getting cooped up inside his thoughts as another young Cookie, around the age of Sorbet from the look of things, ran through the doors of the bar. Practically pin-misselling himself over to where the three were after seeing his father, sibling, and... Another Cookie he didn't know, [i yet], Mango grinned happily up at the two Cookies he [i did] know. "Makua wants to know what to make for dinner! I'm helping too!!" He chirped as he lightly played with the decorative pole he always carried around, turning a little and eyeing the purple stranger, quietly going to hide behind Sparkling as he wasn't too trusting of people he didn't know; though, his eyes were glued to the bag of gumballs that Lilac had on the table, but Lilac himself didn't say a word.
[Makua translated literally is just male parent in Hawaiian, heheh-- and yes, enjoy Mango being adorable and Lilac being uncomfortable to the tenth degree content---]
Sorbet gasped as they wiggled out of their father's arms, running over to their brother and tackle hugging him. "ooOOOOoo!!!!" They squealed happily, dragging him over and pointing to Mango. "Ooo ooOooo ooooo!!" They trilled out, then to Lilac as they smiled. It seemed like they were trying to introduce their sibling to Lilac, hopping up to grab the bag before offering it to Mango with a happy smile. Sparkling happily welcomed his lover with a hug and a light peck, humming lightly. "It's nice to see you, Liebste."
Lilac softly blinked a few times, watching the two siblings for a handful of seconds, processing what Sorbet tried to tell him. Thankfully it didn't take a genius to figure out that the other young Cookie was Sorbet's brother, and that said other young Cookie was most likely Mango, considering his attire and scent; every Cookie smelled like what their name suggested, one couldn't blame him for picking up on it. "It's nice to meet you as well; Mango, yes? I'm Lilac," The bodyguard offered out sweetly, still eyeing the two, ensuring he kept a warm smile stuck to his face as to seem approachable to the children. Mango and Herb alike were pleasantly happy by the greetings they each received, though Mango's attention was more focused on his sibling and this Lilac person than either of his fathers, whereas Herb was, of course, focused on Sparkling; though he kept a watchful eye over both Mango and Sorbet to be safe. "It's nice to see you too, honey. Good evening Lilac," Herb offered out, earning a polite bow of Lilac's head as a greeting due to the fact the two were already acquainted while Mango waddled his way into one of the chairs at the table Lilac sat at, still holding the gumball bag Sorbet had handed him. He sifted through the pouch for a second before grabbing one with multiple colours that had caught his eye, sliding the bag back over to Lilac, assuming; correctly; that the bag belonged to him. Without thinking, as children oftentimes did, Mango piped up after observing the purple frosted Cookie and his interesting choice in fashion; interesting at least to Mango. "You're kinda weird, haku. What's that face thing? And why do you have so many gems?" Lilac only smiled more from behind the cloth, however, happy to quickly answer the questions he was asked. "It's called a niqāb; the Cookies from my country typically wear one. Have you heard of Yogurt Cream Cookie?" He got a nod in response, "I'm from the same country he is. Back home, we have a lot of gems; gems are our currency, which is why I have so many. Over here, though, you guys use gold instead." Lilac explained softly, evidently glad to help culturally educate the Cookie children, pushing over an amethyst to Mango as a gift. "Here, you can have one if you'd like. Sorbet got one from me earlier."
[Haku = mister in Hawaiian; the only reason I know some Hawaiian 's cause an old friend taught me the rough basics heheh-]
Sorbet happily swayed their feet as they sat next to their brother. "oooOoo!!" He giggled lightly as he held up his little amethyst, Sparkling watching them with a mild look. He hummed lightly as he brought his husband aside, planning dinner with him since he trusted Lilac Cookie to not try and kidnap (cookie-nap??) his children. The little shark Cookie trotted up behind the bar after a moment, tugging on Herb's pants as he tried to put the amethyst into his father's pocket. It made Sparkling chuckle as he watched, patting his child's head. "Go on back to your brother, Schatz." He hummed lightly, Sorbet grinning softly before running back and climbing up into Lilac's lap with a little bit of effort and a couple of failed attempts.
Mango examined the amethyst he was given in fascination, looking it over carefully a few times while muttering to himself about how cool he thought using genuine gems as a type of money, looking back up to Lilac with eyes aflamed with new burning questions. "Where are you from, haku? Why do you have a funny mark on your forehead? Why are your clothes mostly transparent?" Mango asked away, curiosity eating at his insides while Lilac only laughed and pulled out a map from behind his midnight blue cloak, sprawling it out on the table so both children could see. Still as happy as ever to provide some cultural awareness and boast about the country he was from, Lilac chatted away, swiftly answering every question thrown his way and describing everything with a storyteller's passion and enthusiasm, even drawing out things on the back of the map to get his images across. It was definitely something he wholeheartedly enjoyed simply by watching him from afar, refusing to stop talking about his desert-scaped homelands until both children were out of questions and satisfied with the responses he provided. Herb only smiled at the sight when he looked back over to check up on them, contently happy that Lilac seemed to be able to handle the both of them well, knowing just how rowdy and question-filled they could be when it came to strangers, quick to return back to his work of helping Sparkling with dinner once confirming their children were alright. By the time the questions for Lilac had slowed down and became infrequent, it had easily grown dark outside, the soft starlight outside the nearby window only further illuminating the map he had earlier spread out. Glancing out said window for a moment, Lilac hummed out, gently petting the heads of the siblings who were both now found in his lap. "I might have to return to the palace soon, little friends, it's growing late." Mango audibly whined and pouted instantaneously, clearly disappointed that a new friend of his had to leave so soon.
Sorbet whined too, gently gripping onto Lilac's shirt, hiding his face into the bodyguard's shirt with a sad warble. He wanted his new friend to stay! "OooOooOoooOO!" He whined lightly, Sparkling chuckling gently. "I don't think he can stay for dinner, mein liebchen." He spoke kindly, coming over to his children before picking them up. "Sorry about them, they're usually much shyer than this around new people. I hope you have a safe journey home, my friend. Come on, Kinder, it's time for dinner." He spoke kindly, handing the kids off to Herb as Sorbet looked back at Lilac with a soft wave and a melancholy trill.
Lilac offered up the family a truly sorry and saddened smile as he gathered up the things he had set on the table to show the two siblings. Goodbye had to come eventually regardless, but Lilac made a small mental note to visit sometime soon once more if and when he got the chance, not that Plain Yogurt Cookie gave him many chances to leave, however. Once his map had been neatly rolled back up and he had collected the remaining amethyst stones he had out, Lilac stood out and gave them a lowly yet respectful headbow as to bid goodbye, soon after politely leaving the warmly light bar to walk off into the night and head back to the palace, expecting to get a lighthearted earful from Yogurt Creame when he returned. Of course, on the table, he left his small pouch of gumballs for the two children to enjoy for the time being while he was away, a small, indirect gesture that he would return to visit sometime in the future.
