Tsukasa had decided to take a break from bossing around his little playthings in their secluded tea room of the school. Don't get him wrong, he adored playing with them, but lately they seemed down and it made him a little down too; emotions were weirdly reflective of your human counterparts if you're an apparition, as he came to find out. He had to find a way to cheer himself up, so, what better way than to surprise bomb his twin brother? It made him eccentric and chirpy just at the mere thought, joyously skipping down the halls in search of the fellow raven-haired apparition, even humming out a cheerful tune as he skipped along the smooth floor that lined the halls. Everything was so clean! It was almost as if the school itself was beaming smiles down upon him with good wishes to find his brother, or so he told himself. Tsukasa only grinned further upon seeing the figure of Nene outside; Hanako was [i always] with Nene, so he got excited; swiftly bolting out the door. "Amaneeeee!!!" He exclaimed with a happy laugh, looking around to try and find his brother, but to no avail, only finding Nene, and she was sitting alone.
Nene sniffled softly as she wiped her eyes, looking back at him before flinching at the sight of him. "Waah! Wh-what are you doing here?! I-I don't know where Hanako is, s-so...go away!" She shouted the last two words before turning away from him again, sniffling and crying as she wiped her eyes. Hanako had toyed with her feelings again, and her heart was sad now. All she'd wanted to do was have a genuine confession, but instead, she'd gotten a bunch of sucky halfhearted apologies after another harsh tug at her heartstrings. She whimpered softly as she wiped her eyes on her sleeve, sighing shakily as she just looked down to the ground. "Maybe I just should stop trying...I'm getting tired of getting my heart played with." She sniffled as she hugged herself.
Tsukasa blinked a few times, tilting his head like a curious puppy dog, not moving an inch from where he stood. Normally, under regular conditions, he would have more than happily followed what was shouted at him and quickly run off to find who he was searching for, but this time was different. Nene of all the people wasn't putting up much of a fight for him to genuinely go away, and openly crying in front of him, which was a new thing for him to experience. Hell, it almost even saddened him to see Nene in such a state because of his brother, something he never thought she'd live long enough for him to see the day of, but here they were. Tsukasa took a few quiet steps forward and sat on the ground next to her, still keeping his curious eyes carefully watching her with his otherwise expressionless face. It took him a second to actually think of what to do in this situation; mind you, he dealt with fellow apparitions while Hanako dealt with humans, he wasn't too familiar with the whole ''helping a human out'' aspect; but eventually he got a small idea. Tsukasa couldn't find Hanako, and Nene seemed to be upset because of him, so that option earned a fat veto instantly, but he did have something else that usually cheered people up, so he pulled out a little tin seemingly from nowhere and opened it up before offering it to the heartbroken girl beside him whilst not speaking a word, instead continuing to observe. Inside the tin were little cookies and small tea cakes, all in various shapes that looked like mokke; hey, you had to have something to go with your tea when you're mainly couped inside a tea room after all.
Nene heard the sound of a tin being opened, looking up at the container before blinking in slight confusion. Where had that come from...? It took her a moment, but she looked up at him before pointing to herself. "F...for me? I-I can have one?" She asked confusedly, not [i entirely] understanding his point. He'd only ever really attacked her and tried to get rid of her before this point, and now that he was being kind to her, she wasn't entirely sure how to...take it. On one hand, she appreciated the gesture, but on the other, she didn't trust him one bit. She swallowed a bit before taking one of the small cookies, looking at it before giving it an experimental lick. She'd rather not have another mermaid scale situation, since that had resulted in her being stuck with Hanako.
Tsukasa softly nodded to answer her questions, slowly and gently pushing the tin into her lap before floating up, belly down, still watching her keenly. That is, until his eyes got caught on one of the mokke that were friendly to him, gently picking it up and holding it; incidentally enough, the bunny-like pink creature helped him seem less threatening at the surface level. "Sakura-chan made those, she's really good at baking." He softly stated, referring to the sweets inside the tin he trusted into Nene's care, floating close for a moment to grab one only to respect their distance apart once more. He handed the mokke the little cookie he had grabbed, smiling a little as it ate it happily. "You shouldn't be sad, it rubs off on the apparitions around you," He pointed over to a small group of mokke nearby, all of which seemed visibly saddened to some degree, still holding onto his own mokke with his other hand. "They need you to stay happy so they can be happy. Hanako needs you to stay happy so [i he] can stay happy. [i Even I] need you to stay happy so I can stay happy, understand? So just... Be happy." It was definitely a... unique way to try and cheer somebody up, but Tsukasa was trying, even if he didn't fully grasp the idea of human emotions despite being a ghost and having once been one himself.
She looked down to the ground as she sighed softly, crossing her arms and shoving the sweet into her mouth before looking up at Tsukasa. "Well, then who's he being around to keep messing with me like he does!? He's just mean and always messing with my head! He keeps making me think he cares, keeps saving me and giving me all these signals before completely turning around on me! It's not FAIR!" She sounded both angry and sad, tears welling in her eyes once again as the Mokke gently moved close to huddle around her and try to cheer her up. A couple of them offered her some sweets, others tried to cuddle with her, yet others tried to further bribe her with some of the things they'd stolen. It took a moment, but she sniffled softly as she wiped her eyes again before looking up at him. "I don't get it...I thought he liked me..."
Tsukasa flinched a little at the loud tone she had used prior, gently shifting the Mokke in his arms until he could comfortably set it on the ground to huddle with the others that surrounded her. He stayed floating in front of her, however, belly still to the ground, a contemplating look painting onto his face for a moment. Gosh, human emotions were so weird, at least in his opinion. "Well, I can't speak for Amane... I myself don't know how he feels about you, but I can tell you one thing with stone-solid certainty." He started out, quiet, gently, as if he spoke too loud would somehow make Nene run away at any given moment, slowly reaching out a hand to cup one of her cheeks, trying to rub her tears away with his thumb. He had seen it in a movie, and usually it helped cheer somebody up from what all he had seen, so he'd try it out himself. "You're a special girl, Nene-chan; Amane knows this as well as I, but maybe he's struggling to figure out how to tell you that."
Her eyes opened once again, and she watched him for a moment before smiling softly and putting her hand over his. "...Thanks, Tsukasa-kun." She spoke gently, sniffling and wiping her own tears off of her cheeks as the Mokke gently reached up a piece of candy to the apparition. The little creatures had clearly brightened up a bit since the girl had, and Nene gently stumbled as she attempted to stand up. "...So...why did you kill the apparition in the Hell of Mirrors...?" She asked after a moment, fidgeting with her hands and looking up at him nervously. Admittedly, they were at eye level at this point, but she still felt like she had to look up at the other for some reason.
Tsukasa smiled almost instantaneously at the question, pulling his hand back and letting both of them hide within the loose fabric of his outfit, doing a little spin in the air seemingly out of excitement. He, indeed, was happy, he loved getting and answering questions, especially ones about his side of the story! "Oh! I granted Mitsuba's wish! He wanted to be remembered, so I made sure he would be! Otherwise he would have fallen apart and died again... But I saved him from death, no worries!" Tsukasa answered with a bright and warm grin, his eyes sparking up like a fire as his two little ghostly orbs danced happy circles around him. "You know how Amane grants wishes for the living? Yeah? Well, I'm kind of like him. I grant wishes for apparitions! We're two sides of the same coin basically!"
"But he didn't want to eat the apparition's heart..." She mumbled out, looking down and playing with her hands again before sighing softly. "Why are you guys so mean to one another? I don't get it..." It was hard to understand how things worked in their world, but at the same time, she felt bad for all the spirits that were getting kind of attacked. Nene sighed again as she shook her head, thinking about Hanako and Tsukasa. Curiosity sparked, and she looked up at him before taking his hand. "Tsu-san!" She chirped suddenly, her eyes sparkling a bit. "How did you die and why?" She asked curiously, holding onto him as she eyed him.
Tsukasa's bright and cheerful expression dropped into pure nothingness for a moment, evidently having not been expecting such a question. Though, his merry attitude was swift to return, beaming ever more happily; he truly did adore getting and answering questions, which might be something helpful to note for later. "OH! That's an easy one!! I died from Amane stabbing me to death cause I got too clingy! Or... Something along those lines, I never really understood [i why] he killed me, but that's my best guess! Oooooorrrr... Or it was because I made a deal with the apparitions under our house and he didn't like it! He never really liked apparitions as much as I do, after all." Tsukasa answered, being all too truthful and cheerful about providing such an answer, though he quickly added onto it. "I love him though, so there's no hard feelings about him murdering me!"
Her eyes widened a bit as she stared at him, watching him talk about his own death so...cheerfully. It scared her a bit, if she was honest, but she looked down and thought about it. "You...made a deal with apparitions? For what?" Her curiosity remained, tapping her fingers together. If Hanako wasn't going to give her answers, she'd get her answers from someone more truthful! Or, someone she viewed as truthful...she shook her head to get out of her trance, picking up one of the Mokke and quietly rubbing it's cheek. "Did they grant you wishes like Hanako...?" She asked after a moment, definitely noting the connection and gently holding the little mochi creature close to her since she felt an instinctual feeling of wanting to protect them.
"Yeah, they did!" Tsukasa chirped out, floating around Nene in slow circles, his ghostly orbs following suit but being just a tad faster than he was. "Amane used to be really sick, and I got really sad cause we couldn't play together, so I found them under our deck! I never learned their name though... But they helped with all kinds of things! They were great, they found our favourite ball when it went missing, and they helped cure Amane of his sickness so he could play with me again, it was so cool!" He continued with a bright smile, taking a moment to quiet down and relive the days the two twins were alive, fondly sighing out afterwards. Tsukasa's orbiting came to a stop when he was behind Nene, gently hugging her and resting his head atop her shoulder as if they were the best of friends who had known each other since they were little. Though, it was just a way for him to contain his chaotic happiness, "Amane doesn't like talking about it even though I've told him it was alright. It bothers him a lot, but that's okay! He isn't sick anymore at least!"
