Ghostbur sat silent and motionless on the floor, curled up near a wall, the only movement he was actively doing being blinking and softly breathing. He stared out the window next to him, watching as raindrops fell from the clouds and how the occasional lightning bolt lit up the sky with a pale yellow for a mere moment. Friend was currently outside, under the care and protection of Philza, leaving the ghost alone in what he had come to call his house.
If only he could remember when it was constructed, that would help explain why it was so small, yet he couldn't change his amnesia even if he wanted to. All he had to go off of was the word of what others told him and what little he used to journal into books when he was still alive. He flipped through the pages of the journal he held in his hands, prying his gaze away from the window to read over his softly inconsistent handwriting.
It wasn't ideal by any means; if anything, it was inconvenient; though it was better than nothing. It left him with more questions than answers, however, and a pang in his heart that hurt more than any sword stabbed through his chest.
Yet, he let out a soft laugh as tears welled in his eyes. He didn't think it was funny, but he couldn't help but find himself laughing over it; humour was a form of emotional medicine to some, after all.
If only he found it funny.
If only he could actually remember.
If only he weren't a ghost, or burned when he was in the rain; he could play with Friend no matter the weather then.
Ghostbur let out a shaky sigh as he slowly closed the journal, now solemnly watching as blue dripped and leaked from the blue gash in his chest and the sides of his mouth.

Quackity was out in the rain as well. Being an avian hybrid of a bird that loved to swim had it’s ups and downs, especially since he had to journey into the main SMP in order to get his fill of rain and water in general. However, today he felt like he had to travel with company, so he’d taken the time to convince Phil to let him take the blue sheep with him. He’d lost track of the red sheep he’d deemed Fella, but he was sure he’d turn up in due time. In any case, he had found that the blue sheep had an intuitive understanding of where Ghostbur was, and today, he felt a bit nervous about not seeing the ghost. Given, the rain hurt him, so he knew he was in shelter, or so he hoped, but he felt like something might be wrong today. He looked around at the buildings around them, then down at the sheep again. “Okay, Friend…you’re the only one who knows where Ghostbur is. I’m gonna need you to help me out here. Which is he in?”

Friend let out a soft bleat up to Quackity, understanding what was asked of him as he trotted off. He weaved his way past a few buildings, leading Quackity back to Ghostbur's home, the ghost's figure able to be seen from one of the second-story windows. One could tell it was a small and compact place just from looking at the outside, clearly influenced by Wilbur's comfortability and familiarity with British architecture. Friend's tail slightly wagged while he looked back to the avian hybrid before gently headbutting the door a few times to alert Ghostbur he had a guest before slipping through the smaller swing latch door; much like a doggy door; that was clearly made for the sheep.
Ghostbur looked up from his own misery when he heard the soft ''knocking'' from downstairs. He took a moment to recollect himself, or at least tried to, before walking slowly down the flight of stairs, slowly raising a brow upon seeing Friend. "Heya buddy, did Phil let you come home early?... Who's at the door...?" Ghostbur asked, not expecting an answer while he absentmindedly eyed the sheep as he curled up by the furnace to dry out his wool coat. Ghostbur let out a slow, shaky sigh, wiping the blue-stained tears free from his eyes before moving over to open the door, staying safely behind it as to avoid getting *any* rain on him. "Hello- ...Quackity?"

Quackity smiled sheepishly as he put his arms behind his back for a moment, then made a small jazz hands motion. “Surpriiiiise…eh-heh…” He cleared his throat before looking down and playing with his hands for a moment, “I, Uhm…got worried when I didn’t see you at all today. I know it’s raining and you can’t get out in the rain but uh…yeah…” He mumbled quietly, almost more to himself before clearing his throat again. “I had a bit of help from Friend…he knows where you are most of the time so I got Phil to let me take him out and find you.” He hummed out before looking at him. “I’m, uh…I’m kinda worried, I guess.”

Ghostbur blinked a few times before smiling a little, masking up the fact that he still felt blue and that the colour was still dripping from the gash in his chest. "Ah, I see. Well, come inside, I'll get you a towel so you can dry off and a blanket so you can warm up. In the meantime, you can sit with Friend by the furnace if you'd like, it's typically fairly warm there." He said as he gestured for Quackity to come inside since he couldn't exactly gently pull him himself since it was still downpouring. Ghostbur walked off back upstairs to fetch both a towel and a blanket as he said he would, trusting Quackity enough not to purposely try and soak his floors with rainwater; though, arguably, he was doing roughly the equivalent when it came to blue. He opened a closet and tugged out a clean towel and blanket, returning to the lower level soon after. "Would you like some tea, as well? I've got a nice peppermint, lemon ginger, and vanilla if any of those strike your fancy." Ghostbur offered, still being as hospitable as he could much like his usual self.

He looked at him for a moment before thinking quietly, patting the floor beside him. “Come join us. Something’s wrong, you’re leaking blue like a faucet.” He petted the sheep’s head gently as he slowly ruffled out his wings and held a hand up to the ghost. “I’m not good at comforting people, but I’m a good listener when I want to be. So…why don’t you come and talk to me? Maybe it’ll help?” He offered quietly as he smiled at him.

The ghost visibly hesitated as a sad smile drew itself onto his face, letting his eyes dart away for a moment as he handed Quackity both the towel and the blanket. "Oh, uhm, thank you for the offer, Big Q, but I can assure you it's not... Not something others *should* help with," Ghostbur lightly offered out, trying to brush it under the rug before he had no other choice than to talk about it. As emotionally soft he was, he wasn't one to immediately open up about his feelings, especially so about his personal struggles when it came to amnesia or deja-vu. "Aaaanyways, you never answered my question; ya kinda dodged it there. Tea?" He tried, moving over to the small yet comfortable kitchen he had, reaching into the cabinets. "I've got... Let's see, I know I have chocolate milk in the fridge... Coffee, chai, and some bourbon too, if you wanna finish off the bottle. And I've got plenty of little snacky things, as well, in case you're hungry. I'm sure Tommy'd kill me if I didn't, haha."

“You and your chocolate things…” He jabbed playfully before standing up and gently picking up the bottle of bourbon. He still had his self-destructive habits, and he plopped back down before watching him. The look he had on his face was oddly soft for the avian hybrid, usually he looked more neutral or even angry depending on the situation. He eventually opened the bottle and took a sip, humming at the taste before continuing to watch him. He was trying to analyze the situation, look for the best angle to go for.

"Chocolate is amazing, I have no idea why you must ridicule it," Ghostbur shot back with a small laugh, rolling his eyes as he grabbed a glass and poured himself a cup of chocolate milk after debating with himself if he preferred it over tea at the moment or not. He sipped at it for a moment, leaning back to sit and float in the air, his eyes staying on the rim of the glass he held. He didn't speak a word after that, only humming out a solemn tune quietly to himself, ignoring the slow leak of blue he felt drip down his side both on top of and underneath his honeycomb yellow turtleneck.

“Look, it’s my job to ridicule your favorite things, it’s how I show affection.” He rolled his eyes as he leaned against Friend gently, rubbing the sheep’s head quietly. He still seemed to be just watching him, staring at him before standing up and coming over to him. He then gently placed the bottle down and placed his hands near Ghostbur’s face, his eyes glimmering softly. “I’m just gonna stay here.”

The ghost blinked in slight surprise, looking up from his glass of chocolate milk to stare at Quackity for a second and eye the hands he placed near his face. One of the nice things about being a ghost was that he could decide whether or not he wanted to be touched, and if so, by what or who, hence the fact he could pick up material things such as his glass. "You're gonna stay *here*? With *me?*" Ghostbur inquired, doing a double-take on what he had heard as his blue slowly thickened instead of staying a drippy, runny liquid. Evidently, the thicker it got, the unhealthier he forced himself to bottle up his emotions. "I don't mind that per se, but... Why?..." He continued to question, one of the only things swimming through his head being the journal he kept when he was alive. Particularly, all the detailed, sometimes even firey and passionate, notes about how much Quackity seemed to hate him dearly. It confused him; he couldn't handle confusion very well, so blue tears sprung to his eyes. Ghostbur slightly floated away, for once not wanting physical affection, a major red flag considering how much he usually adored it.
tinymushyQuackity   226d ago

He stared at him a bit before sighing quietly and hugging himself a bit, scared of what he could be doing. "Oh...I-..." He started before quietly sighing and sitting down quietly, hugging himself a bit. "I'm sorry." He mumbled to himself before running his hands through his hair. He absolutely got why Ghostbur was confused, but he just wished he could show him the affection he wanted to give Wilbur. It was the compromise he'd made with himself, but he'd never made anyone else aware of it. He probably should have.

The ghost fell silent, sipping away at his chocolate milk until it was gone as a tactic to both brood and avoid talking, though the tears in his eyes only grew ever larger as a result. He set down his glass by the kitchen sink when he was done, and without another word said from his soft-spoken voice, he went back upstairs. Looking around for the window he once looked through before Quackity arrived, Ghostbur found his old journal still laying there, so he moved over and grabbed it, flipping it open for a second to find one page that was currently taunting his head and consuming his thoughts. Even he couldn't help the blue in his eyes from not falling, though he went back to the lower level regardless, and just as confused as ever, he handed the avian the book, gesturing to the page with well-written and documented notes about how Quackity seemed to have a rivalry with him, while he was still alive, that was. He strategically covered up the small burp of light handwriting proclaiming his alive passion and adoration for him, knowing, even while a ghost, that would be a horrible way to confess his (technically ex-) feelings. "You *hated* me, Big Q... So why are you being so nice...? You *never* apologize; I know that cause well I've reread that page twice today..."
