Dream sighed as he fastened his armor, making sure it was secure before placing his mask on and walking to the door of his King's quarters. He'd joined Kinoko a while ago, and had quickly become one of the top knights for King George. His eyes glinted behind his mask before he stood in front of it protectively, placing a hand on the hilt of his sword as he hummed to himself. He let out a slow breath as he glanced back to the doors, debating whether or not to knock on the door to check on him. George never told his knights not to check on him...he sighed and knocked on the door as he stood impatiently.
"Who is it and what do you need?" George called out from behind the door as he ruffled through his currently mushroom hat-less hair, his voice irritable and tired sounding. He had woken up not long ago, despite the fact it was nearing midday, with no thanks whatsoever to a night terror he had to go through. It wasn't uncommon for him to get bad sleep, though, so George thought nothing of it. The king slid one of his many mushroom themed regal capes over his shoulders as he walked over to answer the door in nothing more than a pair of shorts and a random autumn cozy turtleneck; his sleeping attire; and, of course, the capes he had put on mere moments before. He cracked the door open about a quarter of the way and looked up at Dream. "Oh, uhm, hi. Did you need me for... something? Did something come up with a neighboring kingdom...?" George paused for a moment before continuing, "Or did you just want to chat?"
"I just wanted to check on you, um, your highness." Dream hummed softly as he bowed his head to George quietly, clearing his throat. "I'm sorry to disturb you." He spoke out quietly as his thumb rubbed over the pommel built into his sword's handle, shifting uncomfortably as he cleared his throat. "I'm just worried about you. Nobody's seen you all day, and um...I heard you crying last night, so..." He spoke kind of nervously, as if scared of incurring his King's wrath. Of course, George was usually a kind ruler, but he never knew if George wanted to be nice that day. He cleared his throat after a moment, gripping onto his sword's handle as he dared to make eye contact with him. "I'd like to escort you to a more private area to allow you to have breakfast in peace, Your Highness."
George looked Dream firmly in the eyes, matching his gaze for a few moments as his head processed what he was told, taking a second longer than he usually did since he had just woken up. "Ah, I see. Allow me a minute to put my shoes and cap on, at the least." He paused, looking away momentarily inside his grand bedroom before looking back at his knight, "Kindly forget what you heard last night," Was all he said, soon closing his room's door to slip his shoes and cap on as he had said he would. George never adored the fact Dream was so keen and observant about his night terrors, but at the same time, Dream was the only one who was able to coax any information about them out of the royal figure *and* correctly comfort him about it while doing so. He had a love-hate relationship with that fact, slowly letting out a sigh as he slipped the second shoe onto his feet. He returned to the door once more, slipping out to the other side once he was done, though he spoke no words and kept his gaze to the floor.
Dream cleared his throat before placing his hand on George's shoulder, sweetly rubbing his shoulder before clearing his throat again and straightening up. "Would you like to go and sit in the garden, your highness? I can take your food order to the kitchens while you interact with the garden's animals." He offered quietly as he bowed his head in respect to him, closing his eyes for a moment before humming lightly. He seemed ready enough to do anything George wanted, smiling at him.
George contemplated the offer he was presented with, giving the hand that had rubbed his shoulder a gentle pat or two as a small gesture of thanks. "That sounds lovely, my knight. Yes, let's do that," He answered with a petite little smile which soon got consumed by a sleepy yawn, covering his mouth with a hand while he yawned. George tried to shake off his tiredness quickly, knowing well he couldn't sleep all day even if he had a rough time the night prior; eventually he would have to wake up, so he settled with now. "Let's go then, shall we?"
He nodded and lead him out to the gardens quietly, humming to himself and pulling a blanket out of his inventory. Dream then placed it down and smoothed it out a bit, placing rocks on the edges since it was lightly windy that day. "There we are, that should be good. I'll make sure the cooks have your order, so what shall it be this morning, your highness?" He always spoke the title with a reverence that was highly unlike him, usually disliking government figures. It was mostly because George is pretty and he likes serving him, but he disguised it as having reformed since his time in the prison. In reality, he would *kill* for George, gladly.
George shifted ever so lightly, gracefully sitting down on the blanket laid out for him, sitting near the edge so that he could gently twirl the blades of grass that grew in between his fingertips. "A strawberry dutch baby with ricotta cream sounds nice, though there's no chance in End that I'd be able to finish it by myself given my appetite isn't the best at the moment..." He mumbled, looking up from the grass he toyed with to glance up at Dream, slightly raising a brow as if to ask if he'd like to eat with him and share a meal together. He'd do this on occasion, order a meal too big for his minuscule appetite to finish and then proceed to wordlessly ask Dream if he'd like to share it with him. Technically, he could just order for his food to be smaller in proportion, but he liked this option much better; it meant he could sneak glances at the other's maskless face after all.
Dream's tail swished as he cleared his throat, his hood and mask hiding how his face flushed. "If...if that is your will, Your Majesty." He turned and quietly walked out of the room as he cleared his throat, quietly fistpumping when he was out of view before quietly running down to the kitchens. Dream always loved it when George wanted to share meals, and ran up to the kitchens as he hummed happily. He then took the food once it was prepared, carefully bringing it up to the King and setting the tray down onto his lap gently. "Here you are, my King. Eat your fill." He hummed, fully prepared to finish the food George didn't eat. That's...usually what he wanted to do, anyway, but George often just split the food in half as best he could. It made him kind of flush, and he tried his best to not outwardly show it to his King.
"Thank you, my Knight," George let out a hum of satisfaction when Dream had returned with the food he had requested, and, as per his usual, he split it proportionately in half as best he could. He then gently motioned for the tiger hybrid to take a seat next to him on the blanket, already nudging his half of the food towards him, though not without stealing a strawberry from the other's side and playfully sticking his tongue out to lightly joke around. George then looked to a cottony and fluffy rabbit that had hopped its way over to him, feeding the strawberry he had stolen to it as he softly smiled. He loved interacting with the garden's animals like this, doing so practically as often as he could, allowing the rabbit to curl up beside him while he ate his half of the skillet-cooked fluffy pancake.
Dream sat down next to him, reaching into his hood and softly drawing it down in order to let his ears out, then unclipped his mask from behind his head and laying it down beside him. One of Dream's eyes had a jagged scar over it from Quackity's torture, but he still found a smile sometimes. He then began to gently eat the food given to him, humming in happiness. He always loved how fluffy George liked his food, his tail gently patting the ground as he sighed happily. "Mmmm...this is nice..." He whispered before looking over at George subtly, quietly biting a forkful of the food as he let out soft chuffs. "I hope you, um, sleep better tonight, Your Highness." He spoke out as he cleared his throat, as if he was slightly nervous to speak the words. However, they were merely spoken to distract George from the black and orange striped tail that wrapped around the king's wrist.
George looked back to Dream, not saying anything for a few moments as he finished the bite of food he had in his mouth, his free hand gently rubbing at the small rabbit's head. He let out a sigh when his bite had been finished, redirecting his gaze to a small fairy circle of mushrooms that grew nearby. "Yeah, I hope so too, I'm not so sure I'd be able to handle another terror tonight..." He mumbled out quietly, referencing the fact a bad nights' sleep was rather common for him, before he took another polite bite of his food as he dully hummed. George looked back to Dream, silently admiring his handsome face before shifting the topic subject off of himself, "How'd you sleep last night? Were you able to sleep through all that chaotic noise from Sapnap and Karl?"
Dream's tail gently stroked George's wrist as he hummed happily, closing his eyes and humming to himself before opening them to glance up at George. "Hm? Oh. Yeah, I've learned to tune them out." He chuckled to himself as he hummed happily, his tail continuing to rub George's wrist without him knowing. His ears kept twitching and rotating as he kept an eye out for anything that could pose a threat to his King, humming happily before sighing softly as he closed his eyes again. He seemed oddly relaxed, even if his wiry frame was softly alert just in case he had to jump up to defend George. He needed to stay on alert regardless of whether he was supposed to be eating or not. His King was his highest priority, and next to it was getting pets from the very same, since George knew all the best places to pet and scratch to make the tiger hybrid absolutely melt.
George's eyes tracked the rabbit as it quietly hopped away after finishing the strawberry it was gifted, waving it goodbye as it calmly left. He ate the last few bites of his meal; he was always a fast eater even if he didn't have much of an appetite; before he set the tray down to the side, only then properly acknowledging the tail curled around his wrist. "They're lucky I don't mind them; they're always so loud," The king lightheartedly complained, sitting still for a mere moment while he contemplated something silently. George slowly scooted closer to Dream after his mini-mental-debate had been finished, reaching a hand up to gently rub at his fluffy ears. "And *you're* always so on-guard, what's up with that?" He asked quietly, though, that was coming from the guy who didn't exactly *need* to have his guard up given his position of power. Hell, he never had it up even when XD was around.
Dream's ears flicked a bit in surprise before Dream relaxed into George's touch, sighing quietly as his tail slowly wrapped around George's waist protectively. "I don't want anything to happen to you." He spoke out quietly, knowing that he'd probably sound like he was trying to make an excuse if he used George's title as well. The fact that George was allowing him to be this close was making him want to smile, but without his mask, he was slightly nervous about showing any emotion other than his steadfast, almost deadpan expression. After all, who knows what could be watching? He felt he needed to be careful with everything, especially when it came to George. The mushroom king was...delicate, at least to him, and he never wanted George to be hurt in any way, least of all by his own hands. Or...paws...considering he had beans in a couple of his forms. They were mostly birthmark prints when in his mostly humanoid form, but they were actual paw beans when he was a tiger.
"Uuuuuh-huh, and what could *possibly* happen to me, Dream? Oh, let me guess, I get held hostage? Intruders raid the palace and attempt to kill me? Somebody tries to assassinate me?" George asked, his tone laced with clearcut playfulness, not taking his protection seriously as he did with most things. While it seemed a little over the top to him, he never bothered to correct it. If it brought Dream any comfort or happiness in guarding him, he wouldn't argue with it; it did provide a good excuse to spend more time with the tiger hybrid, after all. George continued to stroke at the other's ears, "You worry too much, Dream. C'mon, just relax with me, would ya?"
"It's kinda my job to worry, isn't it? But...fine...if it means I get more pets..." He mumbled the last part more to himself, letting out soft chuffs as he gently pulled George closer to make it easier for him. It's not like Dream was much taller than George or anything, hint hint, so he often tried to put his head into the King's lap when they were alone together. It wasn't his fault George had the best hands ever for petting his ears, and he just wanted to fall asleep in George's lap while listening to him sing...okay yeah maybe he did but still. His ears flicked quietly as he looked down at him, his tail swishing softly as he let out a soft chuff right at him, letting him feel the slight burst of air that came with it.
George let out a satisfied hum, softly smiling at the compromise that was pitched at him, more than happily obliging. Who was he to say no to his knight? Well, he *was* the king, but for the sake of his point, he'd set that fact to the side for now. He quietly shifted his position so that he sat with his legs sprawled in front of him instead of tucked neatly underneath him, still gently petting the tiger hybrid's ears while he did so. George then leaned up and pressed a kiss to Dream's cheek, then patting his own lap a few times as to motion for him to rest his head on it. "Lay down, I wanna play with your hair." He greedily and lightly demanded, otherwise grinning happily at this point. Yeah, he was entitled, and all too well aware of the fact he could get Dream to do basically anything he so wished if George as much as asked, and he adored that fact.
"Whatever you say, Your Royal Mushroomness." Dream teased softly before moving so that he could place his head in George's lap, continuing to happily chuff and even letting out soft tiger moans as he sighed happily. God, he loved it when he got the chance to do this, and always took it when it presented itself. His ears twitched with every gentle rub as he sighed happily, looking up at him before meowing like a tiger, a kinda scratchy sound but a cute one at that. Dream was just good at being cute sometimes, his tail lightly brushing the ground as he closed his eyes and slowly began to fall asleep from the feeling of having his hair and ears played with, touched, and adored by the subject of his affections. He would happily just fall asleep right here, and was definitely trying to despite his anxiety that George could get hurt.
