Sapnap watched as Karl wandered around innocently, staring at him before sighing out and hugging himself. Karl had forgotten him again, and then had wandered off without a care. It made Sapnap feel sick whenever Karl forgot him, and most of all when he got angry at Karl for forgetting him. He knew that Karl couldn't help it, but Sapnap just wanted Karl to remember him, HIM, Sapnap, one of the people he wanted to pledge his life to. He squeezed his eyes shut as he let out an angry breath, which had turned into a blaze noise that could catch someone's attention. He was angry, so angry, and fires began to light on his body as he gritted his teeth quietly. Oh, how much he wanted to snap at something, but he didn't want to scare Karl. He did and he didn't.
Karl strolled around the strangely familiar area, joyously skipping along in a carefree manner whilst appreciating the flowers nearby. He delicately picked a few different types of the wildflowers that were growing, treating them with extraordinary care and admiration. He loved flowers, that much was as clear to anybody as the pool of water nearby. The time traveller had forgotten most, if not everything, of the period he was currently in, but at least he was happy. He had the rare tendency to get into a neutral state, a white/grey headspace if you will, whenever he fell into a moment of amnesia, but thankfully this wasn't one of those times. Karl paused upon hearing a blaze noise while he was jotting down how pretty the flowers were in his journal, his head turning in the direction of Sapnap. Curious and overly friendly, as per his usual, he offered a warm wave and matching smile.
Sapnap looked over at Karl before narrowing his eyes angrily, gripping his arms tightly as he growled softly. He was too far into his angry blaze mindset to think everything through, and bared his teeth at him with a soft hiss. "WHAT." He snapped angrily, taking the bandanna that hid his horns off before they pierced the fabric, storming over to the water nearby and staring down at it. His fires were beginning to glow white-hot, probably hot enough to turn the water into steam as he growled angrily. "Fuck, fuck, FUCK! Damn it!"
Karl flinched a little at the harshness in Sapnap's voice, although he didn't let it bother him much. He finished writing down the last few sentences in his journal before tucking it and his pen into his satchel, gingerly making his way over to the pond where Sapnap was. Of course, he still had the flowers he had picked, so he offered a few to the supposed stranger with the intent to get him in a better mood. "You seem kinda angry, so, have some flowers! Flowers make everything better, in my opinion at least." Karl cheerfully stated, offering Sapnap the same warm smile he had given him before.
He looked over at the flowers as he took a soft breath, letting it out shakily before gripping his fists. "Flowers won't make this better, Karl. Flowers CAN'T make this better, Karl." His voice was shaking and clearly filled with both anger and sadness as his nails cut into his palms, and he flinched as he looked his hands. "Ow..." He mumbled out, taking a soft breath before sighing out. "Damn..." He mumbled as he looked at him quietly, trying his best not to tear up as he wiped his eyes softly. "Karl..." He spoke merely before closing his eyes and shaking his head aggressively, turning away and crossing his arms.
"H-how do you know my name? I do-don't think I told you that." Karl nervously sputtered out as he pulled his beloved flowers back, cradling them gently as he stared up at Sapnap. He trepidly took a step back, then two steps back, then three, until he deemed he was a safe-ish distance away. It felt oddly familiar as if he had done the exact same thing time and time again, but he couldn't quite explain why it felt like deja-vu. "Do I.... Know you from somewhere...?"
Sapnap sighed and chuckled before looking up at him, fires suddenly bursting from his clothes as he screamed to vent out some of his emotions. It was like a flamethrower had exploded inside his body, taking a shuddering breath before letting out a soft growl. "We're ENGAGED, Karl! We're engaged, we're supposed to be married soon! I thought you were gonna be my husband..." He whispered softly, sniffling and starting to cry liquid fire as he gripped his fists tightly again. "I thought we were supposed to be something, Karl..."
Karl uncomfortably giggled to himself, awkwardly laughing as a way to cover up his unease about what he was told. Indirectly, he glanced down to the other's hands, eyeing the ring on it before looking at his own. Sure enough, there was a matching one on his as well. Uh-oh. Fuck, it seemed like he forgot something hellishly important. As he continued to giggle, his laughter slowly growing ever louder from the uncomfortable situation he ended up in, he dropped his flowers all of a sudden to pull his journal out. Surely there had to be something inside it that told him it wasn't all a big misunderstanding or prank, though his scribbly handwriting told him the same thing he heard. He glanced up from the book, awkwardly smiling up at the blaze hybrid, "S-sapnap?... You're, u-uhm, Sapnap, yeah?"
Yeah. That's me." He took a soft breath as he tried not to tear up, gripping his sleeves tightly and wiping his eyes after a moment. "You're my fiancé, Karl. We're supposed to get married and spend our lives together, be together forever. But you keep forgetting me..." He whispered out as tears sprang to his eyes again without him being able to control it, sniffling and wiping them swiftly. "I love you, Karl, this just hurts...it hurts so much every time you forget me..." Every time...? This has clearly happened before.
"I-i'm sorry Sapnap, but you must know by now that I have memory issues. Stress and stuff from my work get to me..." Karl muttered out as he continued to flip through his journal, rereading for the millionth time his own writings on Sapnap. He truly felt guilty that he kept forgetting after reading what he at written, hell he even came across a little tally mark page rightfully titled as his "Amnesia Arc Episode #'s". Of course, he added another mark to the page soon after finding it. "Uhm, but... Uh... Hoooly honk this is difficult..." He glanced down to the flowers at his feet as he slipped his journal back into his satchel, leaning down and picking them up before getting an idea. "I know, we can go on a date! Uhm, only if you'd like, of course... I think it'd help me remember, or at least give me more exposure around you so that it's easier to recall things..." Karl murmured, explaining his thought process behind his idea all while sheepishly smiling.
Sapnap hugged himself tightly as he watched him, looking away as he stepped back. He wanted so badly for Karl to remember him, but he was so nervous that Karl would just never remember everything. He'd already lost Quackity, he didn't want to lose Karl too. "Right...where do you want to go?" He asked quietly, looking over at him with a soft smile. "I know a place that you used to like..." He mumbled out as he smiled shakily. If he showed Karl everything they used to do together, maybe he'd remember. Maybe he could keep Karl, make sure he stays around...hopefully...
Karl hummed to himself as he thought about an answer, trying to think of a place he'd like to go to for a few moments before simply shrugging in defeat. It wasn't as if he couldn't remember enough places, he just had trouble deciding. The time traveller perked up at the mention of a place he supposedly used to like, "Oh yeah? What place would that be? Is it another flower field?? Oh! Or a cafe??" He inquired curiously and eagerly, his smile slowly becoming less forced and more genuine as if he was getting comfortable being around Sapnap once more.
He held a hand out to him, offering it to him as he smiled softly. "Come on, trust me, I'll show you the best place in the world." He hummed out so that he could reassure him, making sure to securely hold his hand once it was given. He wandered away with him, walking up to a restaurant called McPuffy's as he looked at him. "You used to like this place a lot. Especially the toys, you had a whole collection of them, haha!" He laughed softly as he covered his mouth, flushing softly at the thought and smiling like a dork.
Karl smiled, observing McPuffy's for a few seconds as yet another sense of deja-vu washed over him. He paused for a moment, slightly recalling a memory of him wolfing down order after order of food to get toys before laughing softly himself. It wasn't much of a memory, recalling that he got sick soon after, but it was better than nothing. "Right, right! Didn't I use to challenge Tommy to burger-eating contests to see which one of us could get the rarer toys first?" The time traveller asked as he giggled to himself. "I don't think either of us did ever get that area 51 alien toy."
Sapnap hummed before bringing him inside, leaning in to kiss his cheek before bringing him to a table. "I kinda remember what you like, let me go ahead and order it, huh?" He had a plan, he just hoped Karl wouldn't catch on as he gave him a soft smile. He thought about that a lot, so now, he had a plan. Sapnap then wandered over to the ordering desk, leaning in and whispering to the clerk before smiling and waiting for their food, then bringing it over and setting it on the table. "Here you go."
Karl giggled upon getting a kiss to his cheek, obediently taking a seat at the table he was shown to. When Sapnap came back, he was fiddling with his sweater paws to keep himself from yoinking the food that was ordered and wolfing it down. He, instead wanting to be polite, sat still. "Thank youuuu! What did you get?" Karl asked curiously as he slowly reached a hand over to grab the food.
"You usually like burgers and stuff, so that's what I got you. And there might be a surprise." He winked at him before crossing his arms and leaning forwards onto the table, trying to avoid the question with a different response. He then drummed his fingers on the table, closing his eyes as he hummed to himself with a soft smile. He was hungry, but didn't really want to eat at the moment, since he felt sick to his stomach from his anger. His sadness from yelling at Karl as well, he didn't know how Karl was so bright with him.
Karl only seemed to grow ever more excited and giggly as he grabbed at the food that was brought to him, pulling it over to himself as he instantly wolfed down on his burger. He didn't seem to be all that hungry beforehand, but he clearly was good at hiding his appetite given his ferocious eating habits. He hummed happily as he ate, curiously eyeing the little surprise that came with his meal, it wrapped in plastic so he couldn't figure out what exactly it was.
Sapnap smiled dumbly as he rested his head on his hand, sighing softly as he hummed to himself, sticking his tongue out, "You're adorable...go ahead and unwrap it when you're ready." He hummed out, smiling and chuckling softly as he waited patiently. He thought it was exciting to wait for Karl's reaction, knowing that he might get excited by what's inside. He hoped Karl would like it, and definitely didn't steal a fry from him.
Karl offered Sapnap a soft smile as he finished up his burger, politely cleaning his face with a paper napkin since he wasn't the cleanest eater in the smp. His hands quickly flew over to the plastic-wrapped goodie, tearing it open swiftly before gasping at what he saw. The time traveller looked up at Sapnap with wide eyes, glancing between the one toy he had been searching for and him as he burst out into an excited giggle fit. Laughing was a stim for him, anyone who knew him knew that much, and he giggled up a joyous storm as he cradled the toy. "Sappy!! Sappy, look!! It's the alien, Sappy!!!"
Sapnap chuckled softly as he smiled at how happy the time traveller was, humming softly. "It is, it is. Do you like it?" He seemed to be hopeful now, slightly making a tappy finger motion in excitement. He wanted Karl to be happy, he wanted him to like it. He wanted to come over and kiss him, but he knew that Karl might not want that so soon. "I hope so." He hummed out simply, trying his best to stay calm.
"Yes, yes!! Honk yes, I love it!" Karl exclaimed with a squeak of a giggle, swiftly getting up where he sat at the table to slide over to Sapnap. He set the alien toy down atop the table before tightly hugging his side, showering one of his cheeks with kisses. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, Sappy! I've been looking for it for FOREVER!!" Karl chirped as he kept giggling and clinging to Sapnap's side, overly comfortable with him with plenty of thanks to his, albeit slowly, recovering memory.
He smiled softly at him, pulling him close before leaning into him and kissing his nose. He seemed so excited, now looking at him as he held him close gently. "I love you so much, Karl. You're so cute, so sweet, I'm so glad you like my gift. Do you remember anything we used to do here?" He asked curiously, tilting his head at him as he stuck his tongue out slightly. The blaze hybrid was happy again, even if his mind told him he was going to be forgotten again.
Karl hummed while he kept giggling, thinking a little bit as he looked around. He nodded after a few moments, "Yeah, I do actually. We used to jokingly "raid" this place during late nights for fun all the time, and the fries here never tasted so good. Oh, aaaaand you used to take me on dates here all the time cause I loved this place so much. I always got a new toy every time you specifically took me; which, I still want an explanation to, by the way." Karl stated with a soft smile.
"A magician never reveals his secrets." Sapnap spoke casually, smirking at him as he stuck his tongue out softly. "You know you like the toys though~" He teased softly, leaning in to kiss his nose. "Can I have an actual kiss, Karl, honey?" He asked out calmly, wanting a kiss from him as he blepped softly. He didn't want to invade his privacy, but he wanted kisses. He always wanted kisses, he was very much a lovey person, affectionate and sweet when he wanted to be. Same thing with his more flirtatious side, and sometimes it flipped like a switch.
The time traveller giggled for a few more moments before letting go of Sapnap and shifting so that they could be at least a little more at eye level. "Yes, oooof course you can," He spoke gently with a smile before sweetly pressing a kiss to the other's lips. Karl pulled away once he himself was satisfied, letting out a quiet sigh afterwards. "I'm sorry I forgot you, again, Sap..." He murmured apologetically.
Sapnap was instantly happy again, holding the time traveller's cheeks in his hands as he squished them. "It's okay, I'm sorry for getting mad at you..." He gave him a sheepish smile as he looked away, not wanting to make eye contact with him since he felt bad. He had no reason to get upset about that, he realized that now, and he gave him a soft sigh. "We could press flowers together later, if you want...?"
Karl beamed at the offer, nodding his head excitedly. "Holy honk, yes, please! Can we press lillies?? I can hardly ever do them by myself cause they're such a delicate and large flower." He stated with another laugh, glancing over at the alien toy before picking it up and holding it between his sweater paws, holding it up to Sapnap. "We need to name this little guy! Or, well, I want you to name 'em. Can you pleaaaaaase name 'em, Sappy Nappyyyyy?" Karl lightly begged as he gave Sapnap pleading puppy eyes.
Sapnap chuckled and leaned in to kiss him again, ruffling his hair. "You're adorable. Maybe we can call him 404." He booped the alien's face as he humored his fiancée happily, kissing his forehead with a soft hum. "And yeah, we can press lilies, as long as you're careful." He couldn't help how his voice dipped down into a tone reminiscent of speaking to a child he trusted well, since Karl was often like this. He leaned in to kiss his nose and forehead gently, purring softly as he held the alien toy.
Karl was radiating with joy at this point, happily cheering about the fact he was able to get Sapnap to name the alien toy and agree to press lilies with him. Though, wanting to be playfully dramatic, he puffed up his cheeks and softly pouted after getting talked to like he was a little child. "Hey!! I've got more experience flower pressing than you do, mister! If anything, I should be telling you to be careful!" The time traveller declared with a light giggle at the end.
Sapnap let out a soft laugh as he grinned at him, leaning in and kissing his nose softly. "You have like, ten minutes more experience than I do, hush." He booped his nose in a sort of playful motion, sticking his tongue out. "You're such a dork, you know that?" He hummed out, kissing it again as he tilted his head at him gently. "You're adorable.
"Being cute, adorable, and dorky is kinda my whole brand, Sapnap," Karl playfully shot back as he grinned, making grabby hands at the blaze hybrid so that he could have 404. Once receiving the alien toy once more, he giggled happily before tugging at Sapnap's arm, trying to pull him to the door. "Come, come, come, let's go press some flowers! Oh, maybe paint our nails too, mine are wayyyyy overdue for another coat of polish."
"Okay, okay, I'm coming, I'm coming!" He laughed softly as he grinned at him, quickly sticking his tongue out at him with a soft raspberry being blown. "Bleh." He hummed quietly, then lead him back to the house as he floated every so often. He seemed very happy now, merely closing his eyes every so often and then looking over at Karl. "I love you."
"I love you too, Sappitus Nappitus, my sweet arsonist." Karl said in response as he giggled, eagerly following Sapnap's lead back to their house as he held onto little 404, cherishing the toy as if it were his engagement ring. Yes, the alien toy was nearly that precious to him, and he could honestly care less about how childish it seemed. The time traveller bolted inside the house once they got there, kicked off his shoes by the door, and quickly ran to set 404 with the rest of his extensive toy collection, excited to finally have a completed, up-to-date collection of all the Mc.Puffy toys.
Sapnap rolled his eyes at the arsonist comment, kicking off his boots before grabbing the books they use to press flowers as well as a few bottles of nail polish. He then moved over to the living room bedside table, waiting for him as he hummed a song to himself comfortably. He felt surprisingly domestic at the moment, and purred softly as he sighed happily. This was so happy for him, and smiled softly as he looked up at Karl. "Ready, Karl?" He asked softly, motioning to the materials as he tilted his head at him.
