(chu use whoever :3 I am chosen a random human OC I have) An explosion went off in the distance, shaking the earth and causing a giant mushroom cloud to form that could be seen for miles. They'd nuked the source town. It was already too late. Elizabeth wrestled a crowbar from the drunken man in front of her and spun around as it made contact with flesh and tore into a skull, killing the undead that had nearly crawled through the window as she turned back and snarled at her step-father. "You're free to stay and get your ass killed" she told him, throwing down the crowbar as she grabbed, instead, a revolver which had slid under the table. "But I'm leaving" she brushed past him, already shoving some canned food into a bag and grabbing a machete as a backup weapon as she left the house, the door slamming behind her as she felt no remorse leaving the bastard to die as the drugs and alcohol in his system finally caused him to pass out.

(I'ma use pixey, I shall explain why-) Pixey was wandering down the streets after her parents got killed by those gruesome monsters. She had to watch her parents get torn limb by limb till she had enough courage to run away. She had a small stick in her hand, hoping its a good enough weapon to fight against the zombies. She continued to walk down the street, barely getting past a group of zombies. She saw a abandoned store and ran into it, closing the door behind her, it looks like this place hasn't been looted yet. She sat in a corner, crying as she wiped her dirty face with her hand.

Elizabeth tore through a small cluster of them blocking her path as the sun was already starting to go down. With no bullets, she threw the gun down and looked for a safe location, thinking stores were the last place to be but noticing one with unbroken windows which sshe guessed probably still had supplies. [i 'Food and weapons.. survival and First Aid kits.. military training from mom doesnt feel so stupid now...'] she thought and sprinted towards it as she slammed the machete into one of the undead people but loosing it as the blade got stuck halfway into the bulbous neck and it nearly scratched her. Elizabeth barely made it into the store, closing the door behind her and already starting to look for something to barricade it but not yet noticing Pixey in her haste.

Pixey covers her mouth, about to scream, but she stopped herself, and she shifted behind the counter, trying not to be seen. She didn't want any trouble, she was already under enough stress. She uncovered her mouth and gripped the stick, just in case the person, or 'thing' were to attack her. She whimpered softly as she heard all the things moving around, she didn't dare come out.

Elizabeth managed to block the door, cursing silently as she'd cut her hand on something then made her way to the bathroom section to find bandages and a small First-Aid kit, but not before grabbing a large hammer to bash a head in should she find one of those things in the store.

As soon as the footsteps went away, she ran to the front door only to find out its blocked off. She shook her head, trying to move the stuff, even though she knew it was way to heavy for her. "C'mon..c'mon movee.." She said as she tugged on one of the things blocking the door. "Lemme outt.."

Once her hand was bandaged up, she walked around the store, intending to look for supplies when she noticed Pixey, taking a moment to realize she wasn't one of them before sighing then speaking up. "Hey! Those things are all over the place out there and the sun is down." She didn't get close to her, still holding the hammer and tense as she also wasn't sure if Pixey was infected or not while she looked at her from the isle just a few yards away from where Pixey was.

"eek!" She yelped out, turning around with the stick in her hand in a attacking position. She didn't trust her because she still thinks those 'things' are human, so she thought you might be another one of the crazies. She shakily let out: "W-who are you? D-don't come a-any closer!"

Elizabeth sighed and grumbled something to herself, looking over her as she made eye contact. She hadn't planned on getting any closer but with the military training her mother had drilled into her, Elizabeth barely stopped herself from being petty and snatching the stick away, instead moving the hammer down as she didn't see Pixey as a threat and sighed again. "I could be asking you the same thing.." She wondered how old Pixey was and didn't want to scare her anymore, "My name's Elizabeth... Elizabeth Kai" 'not that names really matter in this situation and in my opinion' she thought a bit bitterly as she paused "What's yours? And how old are you if I may be so bold to ask?" She asked softly and calmly

"I'm- I'm pixey, i'm 10..why do you wanna know?! Your probably one of those crazy people trying to trick me huh! I don't trust you!" She said, still holding the stick up, her eyes watery. She growled softly as she waited for her answer. "And don't you dare t-think of getting closer!" She said backing up a little, she was scared as hell.

Elizabeth sighed again, looking at her seriously while also trying to help calm her down "has no one in this world watched a zombie movie or some shit" she grumbled then rose her voice slightly for Pixey to hear her. "Look kid, those things- those.. 'crazy people'... are not human okay? I'm not infected, and I'm sure as hell not crazy. Now I have conscience enough to try and help you out but if you don't want it, then be my fucking guest and you can leave in the morning, but [i I] am not bringing down that or any barricade until morning and-" she cut off and suddenly lunged forward, hammer raised as if she were about to attack Pixey but swung to her right instead and brought the hammer down, bashing in the skull of one of those things which was about to bite Pixey

"eek!" She ducked when she saw her raise the hammer, she heard the sickening thud of the body and she thought she was dead, yet- she didn't feel any impact? She opened an eye, looking at the ground. She patted her body to see if it was still physically there, and when she felt her hands touch her body she looked back up."Wha?.."

Elizabeth looked around tensely, sure there was at least one other infected in the store as she looked back at Pixey "y-you okay?" she asked softly, backing away from Pixey a bit so she wouldn't be too close since she was covered in blood and clearly aware that she may scare her more because of what she'd just done, wishing she didn't have to do it in front of the child as she turned her gaze away to search for any more of them in the store

"That was one of the crazy people..?" She said as she looked at the lifeless body on the ground, sighing when she remembered her parents being brutally murdered by them. She clenched the stick in her hand and started wacking the body, not leaving anything but a mark as she continued until the stick broke, she was on the verge of crying.

Elizabeth sighed again "they're infected people.." she said softly, still looking around. "People that are already dead, that come back as those things and the only way to kill them is by killing the brain" She paused a few moments before looking at Pixey again quietly. "Why are you alone?" she dared to ask.

She stays silent for a minute or two, then mumbles out. "They killed my parents..in front of me.." She looked down, fiddling with the broken stick in her hand.

Elizabeth didn't say anything, feeling it would only upset her more if she knew that her parents would turn into those things. Instead, she told Pixey "I'll stay up... and I can clear the store out of those things so you can sleep.." she said softly "We can leave here in the morning and try to find a safe place"

"I don't wanna sleep..i'll be gone by the morning..maybe they will be fine.." She said as she crawled back into the corner she was in before, and she hugged her knees, burying her face into them. "mm..''

Elizabeth sighed again, having already figured neither of them would be falling asleep tonight as she brought out some blankets anyway for Pixey to at least be warm while she went off and searched the store, making sure there were no more and then bringing back some food and snacks for them. She set some snacks by Pixey then went to another corner nearby to where she could keep an eye on Pixey while keeping her distance.

She stared at the snacks before shaking her head, turning away from them. She couldn't stop thinking about the look on her parents face when they were begging for help while the zombies took them away from her, she felt so helpless, which she kinda is, giving her age and size. She let out a sigh before closing her eyes, she was extremely tired from running and hiding all day, avoiding the zombies, as soon as she closed her eyes, she was knocked out.

Elizabeth couldn't sleep, she sat in her corner with her thoughts as she curled up, pulling her knees to her chest and wondering how it all started and who's fault it was. 'probably some stupid thing with the government and stuff' she figured, remembering the distant feeling and lack of emotion she'd felt watching the first people in the area get turned into those things. Their screams... the blood... her thoughts continued to drift as she now thought about the way her leg was still wrapped in bandages and hidden under cargo pants as the bite from one of those things slowly healed and her mind drifted to a single question. [i 'why didn't I turn?']

She continued to sleep, eventually falling over to her side because her body was leaning. She snored quietly, talking in her sleep, but it was unable to be heard since it was only a mutter. She began to have a nightmare about her parents getting killed again, and she whimpered.

He thoughts kept drifting off until her eyes fluttered closed and she eventually fell into a light sleep. Dreamless since she rarely ever dreamed- though when she did it was usually a nightmare or premonition.

After an hour or two she woke up, rubbing her eyes, it was about midnight now. She got up and she stuffed a few bags of chips and a bottle of water into her hoodie. She took the emergency exit out and started wandering the streets, sighing and shivering at the cool air as she avoids the zombies that she can see.

Elizabeth woke up at the sound of things being stuffed into Pixey's hoodie and the sound of the fire exit as the stores alarms began to go off. She bolted up, grabbing a duffle bag she'd filled with food and blunt weapons and put it on her back. She ran out through the fire exit and up the street, watching as the undead were being drawn to the sound. Breathing a bit hard, she sighed and looked around, gripping a crowbar tightly in her hand as she adjusted the position of the duffle bag and walked along, grumbling quietly as she avoided the ones she could see.

She slowly went down an alley, her right hoodie sleeve ripped up because she barely got past a zombie's attack that left her with a couple of scratches and a ripped sleeve. She sat down in the corner of the alley and pulled out the only bag of chips she had left, since the rest of the items fell out during the fight with the zombie. She nibbled on the chips, thinking of what she should do next, this was her first meal in days. Her stomach growled as she finished the bag of chips and she sighed. "Dis will have to do.."

Elizabeth continuously cursed under her breathe and looked around as she walked until she yawned and found an empty dumpster to camp out in, making a tiny fire in one corner for a bit of warmth as she layed against her duffle bag on the opposite end, watching the little smoke rise up and out of the dumpster.

Pixey saw the smoke but shook her head, checking the chip bag for crumbs. Once she saw there was none she threw the bag aside as she flopped onto her side, closing her eyes. She pulled her hood over her head, starting to fall asleep, her stomach growling again.

After a few minutes and making the fire a decent size, she pulled out a small pot shed taken from the store and some water bottles and ramen packets along with a few seasonings shed taken as well and began to cook.

She continued to sleep till she was woken up by the sound of groaning and she shot up, looking around. She saw a few zombies heading her way. "Mom?" She said as she looked at one of the zombies. It was her turned mother.

Elizabeth put out the fire and was staring at the bowl of noodles since she'd lost her appetite. Hearing Pixey's voice, she grabbed her duffle bag and the crowbar and jumped out of the dumpster, running just around the corner to see the alleyway she was in and the undead going towards her. "Pixey!" She was relieved to see her okay and not dead yet but worried as she focused her gaze was on the undead and ran up next to Pixey.

"Huh?" She looked up at Elizabeth, then shook her head. "What are you doing? That's my mom she would never hurt anyone, put your weapon awayy" She said as she looked at her mom, taking a couple steps forward. "I thought you died mom?"

"That's not your mom anymore Pixey!" She exlaimed, not intending to kill her for a second time as she grabbed Pixey's hoodie and held her back. "When they come back they arent human anymore!" She clutched the crowbar tightly, looking at the other two undead coming up just behind her mom.

"B-but its her, I know it!" She said as she squirmed out of her grasp, running over to her mom, the mom grabbed Pixey's arm and bit it, then fell moments afterwards as Pixey held her bloody arm. She winced and yelped in pain as she looked at her now dead mom. "M-m-mom why'd you do that? T-that's mean!"

Elizabeth's eyes seemed to go dark, shaking her head she grit her teeth, turning away from Pixey and walking away now as she held the duffle bag. "Fuck it" She grumbled quietly to herself and walked past a few groups of the undead, a few starting to follow her as she stayed just ahead of them at a brisk walk.

"W-wha-?.." She watches as Elizabeth leaves, and she pulls her hoodie over her head, laying next to her mom's body, curled between one of her arms. She sighs as her stomach growls again and she hugs her moms arm. "Mmm.."

Elizabeth barely reached the end of the alleyway when a a small group of undead suddenly jumped on her, she yelped, gritting her teeth and hissing un pain as one bit into her neck, another into her arm, one on her side and another on her leg. Gunshots echoed and they all fell on her- though the damage was already done and she passed out by the time a boy came running up the street towards her and calling her name.

Pixey whimpered at the gunshots, but she stayed where she was, since no one was coming for her, and she didn't have anywhere to go. She wrapped a piece of torn cloth onto her bite wound and went back to hugging the corpse's arm as zombies walked past her, thinking she is dead.

"Liz!!" He shouted, panicked as he skid to a stop and crouched beside her, checking quickly for a pulse then sighing in relief as he pulled out bandages and quickly wrapped up her wounds before noticing Pixey. After several moments he stood and walked over to check if she was alive. ((Is Pixey going to be immune to the virus too?))

((Pixey's blood is toxic to the zombies, and she is immune)) Pixey looked up at the man, the darkness of her hood barely shadowing her tears. "What do you want..? I don't have anything.." She said shakily.

Jared tilted his head. "I don't want anything" He said softly, relieved she was alive because he was tired of seeing dead and undead children. "Do you want to come with us?" He offered. "I have a camp a few miles North, a group of survivors." He paused a moment. "We have medics, engineers, plenty of food..." ((okie dokie))

"I'm fine.." She said softly, curling up more. "I'm bitten anyways..apparently that's a problem.." She said, holding up her wrapped up arm, the makeshift bandage is soaked in blood. "I'm gonna die..might as well just leave me.." She lowered her arm back down and went back to hugging her mom's arm.

Jared sighed and shook his head. "Pleanty of us are bitten..." he mumbled. "We can deal with the problem [i after] they're dead.. but while someone's alive they should be allowed to live without fear of being randomly killed... We're not in some crazy zombie movie where people are heartless- even if some people think that way... not our group..." He looked over at Elizabeth. "Besides, my sister needs the medical attention before she bleeds out... I was just wondering if you needed somewhere to go for a little while before moving on or something..."

"I'm not leaving my mom..you can leave me here..take care of your sister.." She said, not letting go of her mothers arm. "You don't even know me anyways..I wont be any help at the base..just another problem.."

Jared looked at Pixey again. "Your mom's dead and there are other orphans and families at the base... wouldn't you like to spend some time with other kids your age? It's really not a problem if you came with us..." He said softly, looking around and making sure there were no more of the zombies to shoot

"But.." She sighs, shakily getting up and looking down at her mothers body, her arm slumped to the side. She then looks at the man. "I'll come.." She said quietly, not wanting to leave her mother, but also not wanting to die. "Maybe i'll meet a new friend.." She thought to herself as she looked at the ground.

Jared sighed, relieved he didn't need to leave another kid to die. He shook his head from the thought and smiled softly. "Promise you'll like it. It's almost like there's no apocalypse going on there except for the barriers and guards or whatever..." he paused and looked at her. "And we have someone who makes the best cookies- everyone calls her Gran or Nana or something like that because she's like that cool grandma everyone likes even though she's barely an adult" He smiled, holding a hand out for Pixey reassuringly

"Cookies? I want a cookie..!" She said happily as she grabs his hand, her other arm still slumped. She looked at Elizabeth. "What about her? Is she okay?" She asked him, looking back at him, tilting her head slightly.

Something flashed in his eyes, almost like he'd had a small flashback but nodded. "She'll be just fine... she'll recover." He smiled and lead Pixey forward, waving at a van that was parked up the hill as it turned on and pulled up near them. Two men came out of it and picked up Elizabeth, carrying her to the open trunk and laying her down on a small matress with dirty sheets. The windows were broken and a make-shift latch was made on the inside to hold the back doors of the van closed for while it moved. Jared nodded his thanks and looked at Pixey. "Ready to go?" He asked.
