Vaan, Bartz, Tidus, Hope, Firion and Noel had gone exploring on a day that they thought was perfect for exploration. While they were walking, Vaan seemed to notice something. “What is that...?” He said softly. He approached what he had noticed and was followed by his friends. He had no idea about what would happen next or that someone had noticed him and his friends. Before he knew it, he found himself surrounded by his unconscious friends. He screamed and tried to get away however he was knocked unconscious as well. Then, he and his friends were taken to the castle of the Demon King where they all woke up in separate cages.
“Where... am I?” Vaan said. He was still a little sleepy however he had to clear the haze in his eyes in one way or another. He decided to sit and wait for anything to happen.
Tidus didn’t speak or move. He was upset about having been captured so easily and ended up growling. He didn’t want to say anything however he was frustrated.
Seige was sitting quietly beside the demon King, looking at the cage they'd brought in with a blank stare. It assumed this would be another one of the Kings sick games and remained silent, figuring that its father was joking about engaging it to the next set of prisoners brought in since it was coming of age and had yet to choose someone to rule by its side when the time came. Though if ruling meant being as cruel as its father Seige wanted nothing to do with that. It would prefer to live hell on the surface among the humans than to end up like its father. But for now it would endure, refuse to have a bride or a groom or whatever, and endure the Kings growing impatience.
Vaan ended up yawning softly. It was then that he noticed Seige and froze. His eyes were still slightly hazy and he appeared to be only seventeen years old. He looked down at the ground and ended up sighing. “How did I get into this mess...” He said softly. He was still laying down on the bottom of the cage and had yet to get up.
Seige glanced at its father, sitting back it sighed and looked at the group of boys in the cage and sighed quietly. Suppressing a yawn it watched them with mild disinterest, not saying a word as it had been raised since birth. [i 'The only thing my father's right about is that I would rather rule here in hell than be a servant in heaven'] It thought depressingly. [i 'Question would be about the middle ground... Above us on earth where most of the prisoners are brought in from'] It always found the stories they told to be fascinating, usually in its other form so as to be able to strike a conversation rather than fear in order to hear about it.
Vaan stood up and yawned. He was still a little sleepy however he quickly rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Unlike with the other boys, there was a small mark on his sternum. The collar around his neck was now completely visible as was his outfit. He stood at 5’7 feet tall and the haze in his eyes was now no longer there.
Seige became slightly curious and intrigued as Vaan had recovered quite quickly considering the situation they are in. Then a sense of foreboding washed over it as it realized that if it was curious then its father would be too, and that would not be good should the King remember the promised threat he had made mere weeks ago. Seige wished to disappear now before its father would utter the cursed words which it had no power over.
Seige didnt dare to speak. Aware of its father's behavior, Seige remained silent and seemingly 'obedient' as a 'proper heir' though it often scoffed at the ideas. Seige would state it more as wearing a mask to avoid an unnecessary punishment at the hands of its father. For now it would keep its attention on the captives and await to hear the King's plans.
Seige was beginning to feel suffocated by its father's silence as it stretched on. It glanced up at the throne beside it and felt its blood turn cold as the cold stare in the Demon King's eyes said he'd all but forgotten his words. It returned its attention to the captives, already figuring out which one its father would choose as it looked at Vaan silently with a distant, almost depressing look in its eyes.
The Demon King kept his gaze on the captives, particularly Vaan as he noticed the glow of the marking.
Vaan looked at Tidus who still couldn’t move. “Are you okay, Ti?” He said softly.
“I-I’m fine but I don’t like the look of this place!” Tidus said. He got up off of the floor with a little help from Vaan.
Vaan smiled warmly when he heard that Tidus was okay. He was relieved that at least one of his friends would be alright. He then turned to face Seige.
Seige looked down silently at the base of their cage, awaiting the dreaded words of its father, fist clenched in its lap as it bit back any words of defiance that would only serve to get it thrown into the torture chamber like the last time it had disobeyed the King.
The Demon King looked at them and rested his chin casually on his hand and finally spoke. "Rather than throw you all directly into the torture chambers..." he began, looking down at them, though more so at Vaan. "I shall give you one of two choices." He paused to gauge their reactions.
He smirked and stared at them "Option one is torture." He told them. "Option two, since Seige refuses to find someone to rule with and is soon to come of age" He said as if holding back anger and disappointment, "you," he looks directly at Vaan "will wed Seige and you and your friends may be spared their lives." It was clearly an ultimatum with no real choice. He looked at them, giving them time to think and talk about it should they need to, and awaited an answer.
Seige's nails dug into the palms of its hands as it refused to look up from the base of the cage and forced itself to appear calm.
Seige remained silent and distant as if refusing to feel anything.
The Demon King seemed to smile ruefully and waved them off, having their cage taken somewhere else, though not the dungeons. He then glared at Seige. "You, however, are going to spend the night in your chambers." He growled softly
Seige clenched its jaw. Damn! Every little 'mistake' the King saw, every little act of defiance. It always led to Seige spending at least five nights a week in the torture chambers. "Yes father" it said reluctantly and stood, leaving the room before it could get lectured or punished at his hand. Seige could manipulate the executioners and guards enough but its father knew no mercy. If it were up to him, he probably would've killed Seige a long time ago were it not his only child and heir.
Seige went into its own room before making its way to the chamber, it growled loudly and slammed its fist into a wall on the verge of breaking from each time the demon had punched it with restraint. This time causing the wall to collapse completely and exposing the contents of is closet. After this it sighed and began to grumble quietly, changing into 'peasant clothes' which were torn, worn out, and permanently stained with blood that wont wash out due to the frequency of its time in the chambers. It sighed again, changing and making its way down to the chambers as it barely noticed passing by Vaan and his friend's cage.
“I’m nervous about this... I don’t know what to think but I don’t want for my friends to get hurt...” Vaan said softly. He knew that this would be the last night that he would be in a cage together with his friends before he was brought into a different cage which was separate from the cage that his friends were in.
Seige walked up the stairs a bit slowly the next morning, covered in bandages and hair soaked with blood it stayed silent as it walked by their cage, noticing a few guards behind it that had appeared in order to relocate Vaan. Seige didn't look at them, making its way to its room and noting the wall had been rebuilt overnight, the paint still drying as it sighed and cleaned itself up.
They closed the cage again and locked it, leading Vaan to an open door which revealed a nicely furnished room. The room would still be guarded but would give Vaan seemingly more 'freedom' than the cage. "You will reside here from now on" the Demon King told him. "Staff and servants will arrive soon to begin fitting you into something appropriate for the union" he said, referring to the marriage. "In three days time you will be fully prepared for the ceremony" He walked off, leaving the guards in front of Vaans room and saying nothing more.
Seige had heard its father in the hall talking to someone as it had stepped out of its bathroom with a towel around its waist. It figured he had relocated Vaan into the vacant room that was across from theirs. The room had once belonged to its mother. Seige shook away the thought and grumbled as it got dressed.
Vaan walked over to the bed that was in the room and then sat on it. He ended up yawning and sighed. He didn’t know what to do anymore and was starting to feel a little lonely now that he had been separated from his friends. “This place does seem larger than the cage but it’s missing my friends...” He said softly.
Seige sighed, shifted into its more human form, it looked down at the now-destroyed punching bag which left a mess of sand and gravel on the ground. Shaking its head it looked toward the door, figuring it may as well talk to the person it would be forced to marry.
Seige sighed again and walked over, closing its room door behind it as it went across the halls and glanced at the guards who gave it a nasty look. "My father isn't around to give a damn about what form I use so you two are dismissed for the hour and can keep your judgements to yourself or you'll be answering to me" it growled softly. Moments later the guards walked a short distance off and Seige sighed, taking a moment to gather itself and calm down before it
knocked on the door.
Seige sighed "There's a reason I don't want to rule after my damned father" it grumbled under its breathe, hoping Vaan hadn't caught that, then looked up at him. "No one shows up to these 'unions'" it used air quotes "except for who the current King decides... usually their best guards and some of the 'family' thats still alive.. maybe some servants if they're lucky...." It looks down quietly "And not that many servants are used for the fitting... only about five or less of the Kings choosing..." Seige was not looking forward to whatever crazy costume it would be made to wear as it didn't want a gown or suit.
“I-I guess that I would p-probably end up in a dress of some sort which I am really not looking forward to. Hopefully my friends are invited and I don’t end up in a dress...” Vaan said. He still wasn’t sure about becoming the bride of a demon. He had impulsively made the decision in order to save his friends.
Seige chuckled at this, stifling a small laugh as it looked up at Vaan "now why do you think you'd end up in a dress?" it asked calmly. It wanted to doubt that he would end up in a dress, however, the sad thought was that it was entirely possible should the King not like something about Vaan he would use embarrassment as a punishment over torturing him before the event.
((okie dokie loki))
Seige sighed "unfortunately that might be true..." It looked down again quietly. 'Don't lie to yourself...' Seige told itself not for the first time 'nothing ever goes as planned.. not as I plan it anyway' Seige sighed again and mumbled about tis various attempts before to stop its father from killing its mother, Seige still blamed itself for that but refused to dwell on the past anymore as its new objective was dethroning its father and having him executed in turn. Revenge. Seige was hellbent on it.
Shaking the thought away, Seige closed the door behind it and entered the room more. returning its attention to Vaan.. "I can tell you don't want to get married, I don't want to be married, so how about you help me come up with a plan?" it said softly, aware that this was one thing it could not escape from on its own
Seige growled softly and sighed, understanding the sentiment and knowing it really couldn't blame him. "I understand" it said softly, leaning on a different wall as it began to get lost in thought. It wouldn't believe in anything of blind hope, thought it would think of a way out of this. At that moment, the staff and servants assigned to do the fitting entered the room.
Noticing the shocked looks on their faces, and the hint of a smirk on one of the staff who would tell its father anything to gain his favor, Seige cursed under its breathe and returned to its demon form as it walked out and returned to its room where more staff and servants awaited to do its fitting.
