The Family Business (Closed to SSerendipty-)

By Burning_Heart

They're a well-known mafia assassin, tasked with protecting a girl who's become a target due to her father's own mafia position.

She's a famous ballet dancer, thrown into a world of violence because of her connection with a father she's tried to cut all ties with.

She must entrust her life to the same kind of monster who killed her mother and left her dead, and they must bury a past that threatens to drown them. Most importantly, the two of them have to learn to put aside their suspicions of one another or die trying to survive.

What I'm Looking For:

I'm looking for a semi-literate to literate partner who is willing to flesh out details with me. The story is something I want to write together. This is why the description is so brief.

The mafia assassin is left genderless for a reason. I don't mind if they're female, male, binary, anything like that. It's your character. Play them as you like. Just take this seriously, please.

Real pictures are preferred, but not necessary. I'm willing to use illustrated if necessary.

Communication. I myself am not that great at being on every day or replying every day. I understand life comes first, but at least keep in contact and agree to let the other know when we'll be replying or taking a break/hiatus, anything like that. I'm a very patient and understanding person, I promise.

Good grammar. I'm not great with this all the time. I constantly make mistakes, but I really don't want to try and decipher a reply.

This is a mature roleplay. ES rules still apply, but it's a mafia-based RP. Obviously, things like drugs, cursing, violence, etc, will happen and apply here. If any kind of romance happens, either skip or take it off-site.

Most importantly, have fun. This is just a small idea I had that I wanted to write and I want my partner to do the same.

PM me with the subject of "Family Business" so that I know you read the entire thing. If I don't see that, I will simply assume you didn't read through and I will ignore you. I don't mean that in a rude way, but it's a pet peeve to go through and explain things or try and talk something over that is already presented above.

If you're interested then I can't wait to hear from you!

[center Jemina sat silently in the chair, her hands clenched into fists as they trembled in her lap. She wasn't sure if it was a mix of fear, anger, or both. Her father sat on the other side of the desk, his hands placed on top of it. He was watching her with those cold blue eyes of his. Any other day, she would've just stormed out and told him to never contact her again. Unfortunately, today wasn't any normal day. No, today had been the day that Jemina had almost died, and she so badly wanted to scream at the older man until she was blue in the face that it was his fault.]

[center Yet she remained quiet, staring at her knuckles as they turned white. [b "This is absolutely ridiculous,"] she finally said, her words soft. Tears filled her eyes as she looked up at him, taking in the grey hair that had begun to come in. He raised a brow as he sat back. Business as usual. [b "I am in the middle of a very important run. I will [i not] back out of the show because [i you] have enemies. I won't do it."]]

[center Mr. Reed let out a sigh, rubbing his brow as he leaned back in the chair. The two other men in the room, standing on either side of the door, were completely quiet, waiting patiently to see what the older man would say. [b [i "Jemmy, with all due respect-"]]]

[center [b "Don't Jemmy me."]]

[center Another sigh. [b [i "With all due respect, it's not safe. I understand that they're my enemies, but they've obviously decided that you need to be their target to get to me."]]]

[center [b "And I think it's complete bullshit. I did [i everything] to guarantee that you and I couldn't be tied together. Everything. If you weren't meddling in this petty criminal shit, this wouldn't be happening."] She wanted to say more, mention what had happened when she was a child, mention that her mother would still be alive, but she could tell by the look on his face alone that he understood all too well what was on her mind. The man hadn't stopped thinking about his deceased wife ever since he'd discovered her and Jemina missing.]

[center Rolling her eyes, she stood, placing her hands on top of the desk. [b "I will not be a part of your games. You either find a way to make sure they think they have the wrong girl or on my life I will turn you in."]]

[center He pursed his lips together as she spun on her heel, making her way to the large double doors. [b [i "I've arranged for a bodyguard,"]] he said, causing her to freeze. She turned to look at him, narrowing her eyes. [b [i "I understand that you don't like what I do, but you'll just have to accept that the Kings are dragging you into it and that I'm just trying to protect you."]]]

[center [b "A bodyguard?"] she asked softly, slowly making her way back over to the desk. [b "So what, not only do you want me to stay locked up in my home, you want some stranger to watch over me?"] She was seething. Sure, her father was trying to protect her, but it frustrated her to no end that he had to do so in the first place. After her mother was killed and she was left for dead, they had tried everything they could to make sure she couldn't be traced back to him. Eight-year-old Jemina had died that day, alongside her mother. She'd been sent to live with a distant cousin and swearing that she would never be apart of the family business.]

[center Now, at twenty-five, she was beginning to realize that her efforts didn't matter. Placing her hands on the back of the chair, she met his gaze. [b "Please, then, do tell me: who is this 'bodyguard' of yours?"]]

[center He seemed to hesitate before answering. [b [i "He's one of the most trusted men in the business. I've already paid enough money to guarantee..."]]]

[center His words seemed to trail off as Jemina's world spun. [i In the business?] She tightened her grip on the back of the chair. Even when hiring protection for his daughter, he still relied on the mafia. Her blood boiled, but she remained calm. For the time being, that was.]

It was just another normal day. Well, what was normal to Marco. This wasn't exactly the life Marco would have for himself. But in this matter, he didn't exactly have a choice. He was doing things every day for this mafia business. Again, still had no choice. Marco was surprised though. That he has never been in trouble with the law.

The night before the boss came in to talk to Marco. He always dreaded seeing him, because that's usually when he wants Marco to go do something extreme. He is always telling Marco that he is the best man for this job. Of course, Marco didn't believe that one bit. Marco could try and leave, but then he would end up dead. Just like his parents. The male shivered at the site of what was going through his brain.

Little did anyone know but the boss was the one that killed his parents. Marco never understood why, and everytime he tried to bring it up with the boss, the boss gets mad and tells Marco not to worry about. Instantly, it gets dropped. Because Marco refuses to stand up for himself. Because the last thing he wanted was to die. But he promised himself that if the boss wanted anymore out of him that he would answer his question.

Brown eyes flickered up to the boss. [b "Boss?"] Marco could only imagine what he is doing here. "I need you to do me a favor." The boss said lightly, "My daughter was attacked tonight and almost died. I need you to be her body guard. Make sure nothing happens to her." Marco blinked at his request. It was an odd request. Marco didn't even know he had a daughter.

Marco nodded lightly. [b "On one condition."] Marco looked at the boss. He needed to stand his ground, he deserved to know. [b "You killed my parents, and I deserve to know why."] Marco raised a 'brow at him. The boss sighed. He should've seen that one coming. The boss has been avoiding this for some time. "Marco, your family wasn't supposed to die. My men had the wrong people. And I didn't know until after the deed was done. That was why I took you in." With that being said, he walked out of the room, leaving Marco astonished.

People came and got Marco when it was time to meet his daughter. He nodded his head lightly, not even saying two words. [blue "What no salty comment?"] One guard said. The other guard looked at him. [blue "I'm sure he ain't going to be in the talking mood. Not after the conversation they had last night."] Marco rolled his eyes, [b "Let's just get this job over with."] He said coldly, and then he followed them into the room where the boss and a female were talking.

"My dear, this is your body guard. Marco Ramsey."
Burning_HeartJemina   348d ago

[center Jemina's head snapped up as the door opened. Her father seemed relieved, standing and making his way out from behind the desk. [b [i "My dear, this is your bodyguard, Marco Ramsey."]] She turned, glaring at him as he passed her, before turning her attention to the man that had entered the room.]

[center For a moment, she was silent, completely caught off guard by his appearance. She had to admit, he was good-looking. She glanced at her father, a look of disbelief on her face. [b "This is a joke, right? You picked out Prince Charming to keep me safe? You are a real piece of work, you know that?"] She turned her attention back to the man, narrowing her eyes on him. [b "No offense, but don't you have a princess stuck in a tower to rescue?"] she asked, looking him up and down.]

[center At the end of the day, it didn't matter what he looked like. What mattered was the situation that had led to their meeting, not to mention his occupation. The more she was surrounded by her father's work, the worse the problem would be, and he should've known that just as well as she did. [b "This is honestly a waste of time. No offense, but I don't need a bodyguard. What I need is a father who can actually take care of shit."]]

[center [b [i "I'm trying, Jemmy. Just...play nice, bear with me and it'll be over before you know it, okay?"]]]

[center She took a deep breath before sighing. [b "Fine,"] she said reluctantly, looking to Marco. [b "Jemina Reed,"] she said, holding her hand out to him. She was stuck in this. The least she could do was [i try] and be nice to him.]

[left [pic https://i.imgur.com/2T4II9h.jpg]] Marco stood there as formalities came across the table. Marco looked her up and down and huffed. [b "Prince charming? Cute."] He rolled his eyes. He was definitely not in the mood to deal with his daughter, but this was what the boss wanted. Marco just stood there, because after the news he found out. He definitely wasn't going to be in the mood for anything.

Marco could be very salty, so he didn't understand why out of all people it had to be him that needed to keep her safe. Marco looked at the boss then back at her. [b "Well sweetheart, it looks like your the princess since I was assigned to 'protect you.'"] Marco could hear in the back the other men snickering. Marco usually doesn't act like this. At this point and time, he just wanted to leave. He didn't want to be under the bosses care anymore. Because they mistaken his family for someone else. It was all bullshit.

Marco eyes flicker over to her once more. He didn't shake her hand. [b "Marco."] That was all he said. And he could see the boss was glaring at him. But at this point and time he didn't care. [b "I don't understand why you need me to watch over her. She looks like she is all capable herself, since I'm prince charming, I'm not the man for the job."] He sneered at her, and then turned around and walked out. He didn't have time for this. He went back to where he was at. He still accepted the job, yes, but he didn't want to deal with this right now. He didn't have to deal with this right now.
Burning_HeartJemina   295d ago

[center Jemina was a bit miffed when he refused to shake her hand. At least she was willing to try and put forth the effort for the two of them to work together. She pursed her lips before pulling it back and crossing her arms over her chest. Her jaw tensed the more he spoke, and it took all she had not to grab his arm to stop him from leaving. She wasn't the type to let someone speak to her the way he did.]

[center Turning, she glared at her father. [b "Well, don't you know how to pick them?"] she sneered. Without letting him get another word in, she made her way out of the room. She didn't like the situation any better than Marco or her father did. Hell, she was the one who deserved to be more pissed off about it. [i She] was the one who had tried to escape this shit when she'd finally became a dancer and moved out. it wasn't fair that she was being dragged into this shit once more.]

[center She leaned against the door and let out a sigh. This whole thing sucked for everyone involved. She couldn't be mad at this new bodyguard just because of her fathers' choices. It wasn't like he could've just told her father no. The man had been kind to her growing up, especially after the death of her mother, but she knew he could be pretty scary towards those that worked for him.]

[center [b "Mom, what do I do?"] she asked aloud, despite knowing she wouldn't get an answer. No, she couldn't lean on her mother for support anymore. She'd have to deal with this on her own, just as she had done in the past.]
BeautyFromPain-     292d ago

[left [pic https://i.imgur.com/2T4II9h.jpg]] Once Marco walked out, he could hear the whispers from the others. At this point, he wasn't in the mood to deal with anyone. Marco needed time to comprehend what Jemina's father told him last night. Marco sighed slightly as he started to pace. Marco knew that her father wouldn't bug him now. and that was the way he wanted it. But then again. Maybe he needed to apologize.

Marco walked out and looked around and saw her speaking to someone. But he realized that no one was there. He kind of tilted his head lightly. It wasn't like he was spying or anything. He just wanted to simply apologize to her. But then, how was he going to explain his actions? Marco found out his family dying wasn't anyone's fault except the bosses boys. Because they had the wrong people. Marco shook his head lightly, and started to feel himself getting angry. But he needed to knock it off, because him being angry while trying to apologize wouldn't work at all.

Marco decided to walk up to her. [b "Hey. I just wanted to apologize for my behavior. I found out some stuff, and it's kind of a lot to take in. But if you need anything, you can let me know. I'm in the room down the hall."] Marco knew he was supposed to watch her back. But he didn't see her leaving anytime soon. But Marco didn't want to follow her around like was like a little child.

With that said, Marco turned around and then walked back into his room. He sat on the furniture and just closed his eyes, rubbing his temples. Marco didn't even want to think about what was told, but it was so hard. There was so many emotions that were affecting him. But he couldn't have emotion. It was like a forbidden thing for him.
