[google-font http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Courgette:400,700] Calling Arthur the toughest he met so far made sense. It took a lot to level up in this game. Arthur being level 5 already must have taken some serious grinding, and for Zack to reach level 6? It was hard to believe. She didn't pay it much mind, but Amaria could have sworn his level was 1 on the ship.
Although she just said it, how could he still be alive after killing so many beasts spawns to raise it that high. He'd need a lot of potions for that and those didn't seem easy to come by in Drevin. Bought or not. He must have had a lot of help. Of course. That had to be it.
However his reply shot all of that down. [I [Courgette [size16 From level 5 to 6? Wow. So that's how it was.]]] Looking at his level now, it said 3. His cutlass that he's had this whole time, Level 5.
That took a moment to take in. His class was a Pirate. He seemed to take on the role pretty well, and honesty was definitely not in the job description. But as his first mate, she didn't think he'd keep something like that a secret from her. And he easily got caught in it too. And there was so much against him, there was no way for him to talk his way out of it. Before it was too obvious that got to her, she smiled and replied, [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “Yeah, equipment sounds great. We can go after our meal."]]]
Healing up this time barely took 10 minutes. Not much time to sleep on what just happened. Before she knew it, Robin had the staff bring out the best meals in the entire temple… They tasted like it too. She had shrimp alfredo with steamed broccoli.
The fish was tender and flavorful, with plenty of it throughout the dish. The veggies were fresh without tasting like they came out the ground and merely flew over the pan or just left there and forgotten. The side bread, it had to have just come out of the oven. They were in a game but it was like she was actually eating and drinking. She even got an ale served in a fancy-looking pint glass.
She wasn't sure about the overall quality, but figured it was more than the beer in those red plastic cups at house parties... Well, at the ones that just used beer. Her friends went to those way more than she did, so they could probably taste the difference. Though it was weird comparing the quality of everything when none of this was truly real. Though that did mean she wouldn't have to sneak past her mom and dad.
As their virtual host walked up to the table, Amaria looked up to thank him for treating them to all of this. [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “Yes, this is Capt. Styles. We will. I noticed a bit of that from the villagers back in Drevin. Of course it wouldn't."]]]
When Robin said they could use pigeon mail to communicate, Arthur voiced the same question in her head. Luckily Zack, had an answer for it. He always had answers… Amaria started paying more attention to her drink. It wasn't bad. Robin and him were going back and forth. It made sense to be really caught off guard. She was too and just started wrapping her head around it. He wasn't taking it too well though. Arthur was doing damage control. This was getting even more irritating.
It was just getting worse. Zack just tried to verbally end any interactions with Robin. Though he wasn't even part of the quest and there wasn't a party to begin with. So even if that was voice activated, he was pretty much shooing him away. Arthur was right. That was rude. Even if Robin was a normal NPC, that was disrespectful to Arthur and her, who actually did the quest. It was worse because that wasn't the case. [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “Zack, relax. NPCs aren't typical NPCs here. Just like this game isn't a typical game. As weird as it is, there's a lot that's weird here. That's one of the selling points. We've adapted so far and it's been fun, right?"]]]
[#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “Perfect timing. Thank you, Robin. Good luck to you too."]]] As he went off, Amaria noticed the guy in the hood. [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “Fun contact."]]]
Turning back to the other two, they started talking about the Summoner with a party member that wasn't a player. Turns out they're called heroes of the land. [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “If they can level up like us and have classes that we don't, then are they supposed to play some role in this main quest?]]]
All three of them remained silent for a moment when that conversation wrapped up. Arthur and Zack seemed to be in their own worlds and Amaria decided to check those unread DMs. Both from Nun. [I [Courgette [size16 So he was heading out to Drevin with a party… and looking for a warrior named Arthur–]]] A sudden clang from across the room interrupted that thought. Some sort of altercation. It didn't seem like it was going to travel. So, she was about to ask Arthur to verify if he knew Nun, but he was completely engrossed in whatever was going on.
There was no reason to prolong the conversation anymore. Amaria brought her cup to her mouth and took a sip, glaring at Styles. [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “Funny how you have answers for everything else except NPC interactions… and, well, one other thing."]]] After setting the beer glass down, it was obvious there wasn't much left. As she debated on ordering a new one, apparently things got worse and Arthur got up to play knight in shining armor. Now it was even easier to talk. [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “You know, if you told me… Even if you got caught, it wouldn't have been so miserably."]]]
Although the elephant in the room was finally being talked about, it wasn't long before Arthur created a whole new one. Amaria wasn't sure what was going on over by the bar. But now everyone in the temple knew what Arthur was into. She tried so hard not to laugh, but only managed to stifle it. No doubt, this was definitely the Arthur Nun mentioned.
As a fight was about to break out, she rested her hand on her fire dagger in case he needed help. However, two people stepped in between that. They were those heroes of the land. The summoner wasn't a player, but one of those NPCs. And her partner was also one. Both were level 10. After the Berserker showed a bit of his power, the whole thing was over. Amaria didn't blame them one bit for leaving. Right or wrong, wouldn't want to fight him. Although she was keeping an eye and ear out for Arthur, but she wasn't too worried he'd need help. That show of power was what got her full attention in the whole thing.
As the whole thing wrapped up, she was ready to move on. Zack was getting up and commented on sir Arthur and the fair lady he helped. Amaria laughed, [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “It seems you're right."]]]
As they walked over, he was stammering over introductions. He seemed caught on her last name. She had one, but didn't care too much if it was used… but he seemed to needed a little help [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “It's Marie, Amaria Marie. And Arthur here is a super cool warrior. Great guy."]]] That was when Zack chimed in with a comment and Arthur freaked out. [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “You cant blame him after that whole scene. It's okay. We'll keep an eye out for a Maid Cafe for you. Just keep it PG,"]]] she said teasingly before walking towards the exit.
While on her way to look at merch, she heard Arthur call out to her and shared he was heading out to help out the NPC lady. Amaria didn't catch her name. He also mentioned to keep an eye out for Nun and pass a message to him. She was going to tell him she already met Nun and he already asked to pass a similar message along… but that probably would have delayed things for the AI Warrior. So she decided not to. [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “I'll make sure I pass that along, if I can. Looking forward to those quests. Good luck to you too.]]] She returned the handshake. [I [Courgette [size16 You're both super dorky, but that makes it fun.]]]
After he walked away she sent a message to Nun. [#e3164c [Courgette [i “Hey, sorry for the really long delay. I'm at the Drevin Temple and was partnered with your friend on a quest. He's on a new escapade to Trigleph. He'll be waiting for you there, but I'd let him have some fun on his own a bit longer. Congrats on the party! Hope we can all join up soon. Good luck traveling."]]]
Amaria finally made her way to the merchants where Zack was, eyeing a red glove and a tent. [#e3164c [Courgette [size16 “Did you miss me, Cap?"]]]
